high point horses
-
where do we look to see if the horse is actually a higher point horse, and what does it mean if the bottom number is in red?
-
'Higher pointed' is relative, but...
You want to look at Total Points; that'll tell you how many points the horse has accumulated over its lifetime. 50% of that translates directly into HBs in your pocket every week, so a horse with 500 total points gets you 250 hbs, and a horse with 1000 total points gets you 500, etc.
The number in red just means that for some reason the horse has cost more to enter shows than it has won in show winnings. Currently that doesn't mean very much because it costs so little to enter and the payouts are peanuts.
For example, this horse: http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3892516
She's earned 813 points, so she's worth 406 hbs to me every week. But she's only made 65 hbs in the show ring. It costs me 40 hbs each time she enters a show at her current level, so even if she entered twice this week, and even if she made zero hbs back from the shows, I'd still make money just from owning her.Thanked by 1SheebaArab
