I tend to be pretty good with spotting color just by looking at it as far as base color because I have studied equine genetics extensively. However, I am wondering if you can kinda use the breeders clubs to help you determine color? I noticed they appear for a particular club even if they haven't been color tested yet. Now obviously, ones like bay and black are pretty obvious. But can it happen where the horse won't qualify for "fancier" clubs until they've been color tested?

You have a Chocolate Palomino! He has one copy of the newest gene in the game, congrats!

As for Breeders Clubs, yes - it is possible to determine color by a horse's eligibility to be registered in a particular club, however Ammit stated when Breeders Clubs first came out that it would be frowned upon to use this ability on a regular basis. And no, horses do not need to be color tested to be registered in a Breeders Club.
