Paper levels
-
I just this week went ahead and bought an upgrade so I can paper my horses. I get that the levels of breedable horses are c-b-a-star for stallions and yellew-red-blue-gold for mares. But I am still having trouble understanding foal papers. Obviously if a colt papers higher than thier sire he is superior to sire. But what about if a foal is the same paper level? Do I just need to save up and pay for comparison testing? What about fillies that papered at the same level as thier dame?

Yep, there is a lot of range in the paper levels. So most normal create foundations are a high C/yellow. Only one point off being B/red. So a B stallion won't necessarily compare superior to a C papered foundation. Superior to them is about a mid B and as good as a exceptional foundation. Superior to an exceptional can still be B papered, not far off being A papered though. You can have 3 superior son levels in A papers and still not be at Star. Although most people get to Star before 3 generations of A paper. With no comparison testing for the mares, many people try and look at average foal PT's to work out mare qualityPost edited by Kintara at 2018-08-10 17:28:44

With mares, I have predetermined PT scores for various generations and check to see if their foals meet or exceed those PT score numbers I want for that particular generation.
