What is the difference between "Ssty" and "S+"?

Ssty is ordinary sooty, that darkens the coat from the top-line down, unless it's masked by a lot of dilution genes.

S+ is an especially active variety of Sooty that often gives a dappled effect in the dark areas, especially below the top line.

There will, of course, be some variations from horse to horse, but these four should give you some idea of the differences.

Thank you. Wow the two that are homozygous look more bay than buckskin.

That is because Sooty, and S+, are darkening genes, making for a darker coat.

At the Game-a-thon fundraiser for the therapeutic riding program I volunteer with yesterday, I saw a horse that at first glance I thought was a bay dun . When I asked the owner, she told me it is a buckskin. :D Just a real-life proof that the images in the game are truly realistic. The horse looked about the color of the first of my examples, without all that splash.

I did correctly identify a dark grullo based on my experience in the game, however, and my daughter and I think we also saw a silver bay dun. She may post one of the pictures I took of that one once they are downloaded from the camera to the computer.
