    Seeking advice: I lucked into a Rank special Stars and Stripes herd helper pretty early on playing. I'm really trying to focus on building a self-sustaining show herd, so I haven't been too focused on breeding beyond my initial "go crazy with all the power" phase. If I spent some money to pull from straws from him, do you think there would be a market for them? He didn't paper fantastically well and doesn't have any super fancy genes beyond the mosaic/brindle. Most of the straws I've seen pricing for have been for well producing studs or ones with the fancy/closed genes, so I'm having a hard time finding comps for pricing.

    Hi, and welcome! Handsome guy you have there, so glad you are excited to have him. As far as potential breeding profits, you won't find there is a huge margin, or market for him. Stars and stripes is a fairly common Rank Special horse, and as you have said, he's not extra fancy. That's okay! He's still quite lovely, and could produce you some lovely goals. The cost to pull straws is 500hbs each, and I wouldn't see there being a huge market for straws priced above 1000hbs from him. Though I may be way off base on that. Best way to find out is either posting an ad at a price you find reasonable, or hosting a straw auction.

    Either way, congratulations on a handsome hunk to get your herd going :)

    The great thing about him is, that although his straws won't be worth heaps as there is a few around, because he's a rank special then he's equivalent to a perfect foundation, and has the best breeding quality you can get in a regular create foundation!
