New player need help
  • I'm seeing lots on special horses. Do you have to upgrade to get them? What is the best up grade? How do you recommend on playing? I just started 2 days ago. And feel lost. On what I should do. Please help.
  • What kind of special horses are you seeing? Rank Special horses you don't have to have an upgrade to get, but if you are looking at a Fantasy gene horse some of them you have to have a license to breed and own. The best upgrade is really up to you, i have the basic upgrade which is good for me since i dont use the cloning lab, eggs, etc. I recommend making your own mares and stallions and breed them so you get even papered foals. It also really helps to have some spayed/gelded horses as show horses because they will earn you a daily bonus of hbs from showing. If you have any questions feel free to message me :)

  • I've tried to get rank specials but no go they are always shared to many times. Even if it was posted 5 mins ago. Ugh. I did create some horse. And I even have some that are spayed/ gelded. Just not sure how to go about the breeding. Is there some things you don't want in a horse or do want? I'm kind of lost on how this works.
  • Like this mare.

What is your best advice an breeding her too? Is there something I shouldn't breed to her? She's an example. So just trying to figure it out.
  • Rank specials usually only have one share and are snatched up fairly quickly but that’s ok unless you really love the genetics of one of the rank specials.

Personally for me most of the rank specials need too much work (gene modifications) to fit in with my breeding goals so I tend to chase other herd helpers that are closer to what I want.

But throughout the month in the advent calendar several rank specials will be shared you just need to go to the create anhorse page and create it that day.

    This game is completely individualized.

What I want in a horse isn’t necessarily what the next person may want in a horse and that is ok.

Breed whatever to whatever to figure out what you want. Play with the search to narrow down some breeding goals of your own. Do you want to chase a colour (I breed Grullo), or just for pretty fun colours in general?, do you want to get high PT scores?, do you want to breed Low PT score horses that cause lots of damages? Do you want to work your way up from yellow paper to gold?

It all depends on you. This is not a game that you will make lots of money selling horses. By he time you gather stock people are interested in now they’ve moved on to a new gene.

Although creating yearlings from herd helpers such as exceptional show horses, exceptional producer and perfect foundations can be quite lucrative. I was able to earn enough to buy a basic upgrade when it was introduced. (ETA: horses created with points randomly assigned. Once you reach 20,000 points you no longer create pointed horses)

Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes
  • I agree with Bandit, it all depends on your choice and preference. Also in create a horse you get 5 daily re rolls for herd helper horse, there is a possibility of getting a rank special. Not every one likes the same style of breeding but that ok, because its your choice. I just say have fun with the game, breed, try out different genes and see what you like best :)
  • Ok can you explain: PT scores, papers ? Like I bought a stud that's papered A, is that good?

Oh also how should I look at inconsistent and consistent? Should I only work with consistent? Sorry if I'm asking a lot.

  • You can find a lot of that information by checking out the FAQ User Guide. There's a link near the bottom of the left menu. Please never apologize for asking questions. Players here are always ready to help others out. This is a very complex game, and we all started out feeling more than a little lost. In fact, I felt so intimidated when I first saw an ad for this game back in 2010 that I showed it to my daughter who loves genetics. Then I watched over her shoulder while she played for 8 months until I felt brave enough to start my own account in 2011. :D So, I'm always ready to explain the game, sometimes in extensive detail.

Here are some quick answers to your questions. The FAQ will explain things differently and more completely, so do check that link out. https://www.huntandjump.com/faq.php

PT scores measure how long a horse will train and how far it will go up the ladder of increasingly harder classes. Higher PT scores usually add more points to their show score every time they train. Papers give an idea of how good a horse will be for breeding.

The Breeding Advice tests become available starting with the Basic upgrade. An A papered stud is good, yes, but the foals you get breeding him will have their showing and breeding abilities influenced by the paper grade of their dam/mother. If that is lower or higher than the sire's paper level, there is less chance of getting an intact foal. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, since neutered show horses are the best source of income for a stable.

Consistency is a measure of how a horse performs in shows from event to event. (We can show our horses twice a real-life week and train them once in that time period.) A perfectly consistent horse will receive the same score both times it shows in a week. Other consistent horses may have a slight variability in their scores, which may go up or down by up to 2 points either way. Inconsistent horses may receive scores that vary much more widely in a week. Inconsistent horses tend to have a lower PT score than they would have had if they were consistent. Some players stick to consistent horses, others don't care about it. It's up to you.

There is no one correct way to play this game. Each of us sets our own goals and works toward them, so everyone plays differently.
