So after a long long time, I managed to raise chickens again. Today I brought home 12 Rhode Island Red, 5 White Leghorn and 3 black 35 days old birds. I'm not looking for commercial farming, just want fresh and healthy eggs. As they are not to be slaughtered, I'm going to give them names... any sugestions, please?

For now I already have "Ophelia", a roly-poly greedy Rhode Island Red. :)

my 6 I have now have nicknames that will probably stick...lol. Boss Chick, Red Chick, Bitty Red, Head Stripe, Pale Chick, and Leggy.. (5 New Hampshires and one White Leghorn).

I've got 25 more coming in April! (Buckeyes, Black Australorps, Buff Brahmas, Easter Eggers, Cuckoo Marans, Plymouth Barred Rocks)

My granddad had the same name for all his hens...he called them "Mother Clucker". It was years before I realized why my Mom scowled at him every time he talked about them.

With that many and so many breeds that all look the same you will probably find you have a few you can tell a part and will want to name but most you will not be able to tell apart. Only about half of our 10 hens are named, the others are just too interchangeable. Even the named ones I am not always 100% sure I am calling them the right now lol.

My son watches PAW Patrol and the mayor in the cartoon has a pet chicken named Chickaletta. I think it's kinda cute. lol

I love the names! I'll try to name the ones who show some peculiarity. For example, the smallest of the bunch, a very friendly Rhode IR.

Meanwhile, looking to contact the local associations. I need to reach some nice breeders of very nice breeds!
