Searching for PATN1?
  • Is there a way to search for horses that are hom PATN1? I only found a searchable option for Lp - is PATN1 connected to it somehow? I just want to figure out how many home PATN1 horses I have.

    Thanks!

  • Double checking the search for patterns page, I did not find the option to specify PATN1 status.

You're best bet might be to specify Must Have for Llp and then scan the results looking for those that are homozygous for PATN1 and keeping a count. PATN1 is, I believe a separate gene in the Leopard Complex although it may be like Snowflake, which can be hidden on any horse, whether it carries Llp or not.

  • PATN1 is a unsearchable gene that correlates with the appy blanket size.. here are a few examples of LP and PATN1 working together

  • Also, to figure out who carries PATN1 in my lines, I created a tattoo for known PATN1 carriers
  • Yes, non appy horses do have two ECA3P genes of some kind (either +, PATN1, or PATN2, which is hidden) they just don't do anything because there is no Lp to act on. You can check on the GMT page, if you have a token and the horse is unbred, to see which ones they have.
There is not, to my knowledge, any way to search those genes. I have a 'Leopards' tattoo that I tend to put on horses that I want to remember have PATN genes so I can find them again.

  • Thank you all for your help! That’s what I figured, I just wanted to make sure. :)
