To make her chinchilla show up?
  • I think you should just be able to dial down the white factor. I don’t see that being a problem.

  • Yeah, you would have to reduce her white factor to None or Minimal
  • Her Chinchilla is showing up. This is what homozygous chinchilla on a bay horse with no sooty looks like. The amount of white factor has nothing to do with it. All her red hair has been depigmented by the homozygous recessive chinchilla gene.

My homozygous Chinchilla foundation stallion is also homozygous Ssty, so he's got some black showing up on his body color.

Here's a homozygous Chinchilla draft horse that will give you an idea of what your girl will be like when she's grown up.

  • And here's a homozygous recessive chinchilla cremello mare with homozygous Ssty. Since she's got Dun AND CcrCcr AND Mushroom AND homozygous White 20, even with White Factor: None, she's completely white.

  • One note- the splash is making a difference. That's not a wild bay like Cherry Bomb, it's a 'standard' bay, so her legs would be black if the white from the splash wasn't covering them up. It's difficult to tell how far up the splash goes with how light the coat + chin is, but her legs would be solid black. Or maybe greyish I suppose, with the roan. Dark, is the point. And she won't gain any black on her legs like those wild bay marks, since it's the splash stockings covering them up.
Actually, now that I zoom in on her picture, her nose is pink rather than grey, and with no other dilutes in the picture that means the splash goes at least that high. Which makes sense, since it's homozygous and extensive white factor. If you dropped that white factor to none, you might be able to see those black bay socks. But her body will stay white either way, because of the chinchilla
