Pricing on second gen brindles
  • So I was just curious because I have never gotten into brindles, how much are second generation brindles generally worth? I recently acquired two, and I was really just curious. Here are the horses I got:

They are half siblings so evidently their sire likes to throw brindles!
  • Honestly, they aren't worth much more than another horse of similar quality. Since brindle is so difficult to pass on, most won't pay a bunch extra just because there is brindle on a horse. That said, most people don't sell their home bred brindles. There may be a market I'm not aware of.
  • The last brindle I sold was a 2g stud, for around 10k. But he was superior to sire, and papered up, as well as superior to his brothers. He also had all of the genes his sire did. That was also a private sale, someone asked if he was for sale, and bought him, otherwise he probably never would have been sold.
