ISO showing advice
-
Should I show foals that I'm not going to keep? Or is doing so just spending money unnecessarily?
-
If you're not going to keep them I would not show them. Foals only compete in level 1 Local where they compete with 1 other horse. As they turn 2 they start to show for real (levelling up to level 1 regional, level 1 national and level 1 world, then level 2 local, level 2 regional etc.)
There is a total of 2 entries in each level 1 local show, and the first place only gets 0.5 points. Whilst the entry fee is only a few hbs, those foal only have 50% odds to place first and thus earn 0.5 points.
It costs 5 hbs to enter them, and if they place first they get 7hbs so you make 2hbs profit, not really much! So they won't earn much, as the odds are not that good to earn just a little bit of points and a little bit of money. Foals also do not train yet, so they do not increase in their scores and thus how they show unless they turn two.
However, as the entry fee is that low it doesn't waste that much money, but if you're thight on money I would not bother to show them if you are not going to keep them.Post edited by MasterStablesMS at 2020-05-11 09:22:36HJ1 160524

Thank you! this will save me alot of money.

I always show foals, like mentioned above it is pretty cheap to enter them. It also gives them a start on show points, so people may be interested in horses that are started. But each person has their own way to run their stable. It is mostly up to you if you choose which horses to show or not.Thank you for choosing HBR!
