How do you prefer to sort your horses between barns for the most effective winning strategy?
-
I've got about a dozen barns, so can sort my horses back and forth. I seem to recall, when you put a bunch of same age horses all in one barn they compete against each other when they have the same levels. To me it seems like you should have your horses organized so each age & level is distributed across all the barns. It would be a pain, it's so much easier to just put all the age 4's in one barn, the 5's in another etc. I do have my barns set to auto-show. I was currently working to have my horses sorted by generation, with the foals and 2 year olds in their own barn when my memory poked me. I do have the upgraded account.
-
I sort by sex then color ; all my speldings are in "Show Barns" my A B colts are in their own barns etc etc ; feel free to take a peak and see if it helps you ; most of the way I did it was because of my OCD lol I cant stand mares / stallions / both sexes of spelds all lumped into the same barn I would never be able to find anything

I have auto showing on but I don't see my horses competing against each other unless I use the "enter this barn" option then that's when I notice they compete against each other.. otherwise, I have show barns, a foal barn, a mare barn, a stallion barn, a project and egg pull barn and everything is on auto show, whatever they come out with they come out withThanked by 1OopsDotCom

I'm honestly not sure. I believe the FAQ says it doesn't actually matter so I would be inclined to believe that. More than likely if you have a horse that's good at showing is going to win against any horse, and a really bad show horse is going to lose against any horse so it probably all average out in the end.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

Ammit tested it out ages ago, and proved that it doesn't matter how many of the same stables horses are in a class the results would still basically be the same.
There are tons of people (me included) who just toss the show horses into a barn (5 1000 stall barns) and never really look at them again.

I'm bad and why I pay for % for barns even though they are not all filled (some not even close) I have three Mondo Show Barns and 2 210 show barns This where all my spleds go. At the beginning of the month those without points are separated from the other showers and given one week (or two depending if i get busy and forget) to get points ... if not off to the auction they go.
The rest ... well are broken down by Breeding Lines and then Gen. Example I have Appy 2nd gen, 3rd gen, fourth gen, ectra and I have this for all my lines. Satin is separate in Appy 2nd gen or Kit 2nd gen and so forth. My foundations are broke down to RS/GMT'd and now the new Brindle barns ..... and all auto shows are on. I cycle my mares out of the pasture and put new ones in every month, except the main pasture ... some have been there for a record (for me) three months now lol
-
I think I like your plan, I hope you won't mind me using a variation of it?
-
Mine, by all means go ahead ... If you want to take a closer look at how they are broken down then I welcome the peruse through the barns. Not everything I have gets bred due to the cycling but some months I get a little extra time and in house breed. I have a lot of stallions and I know I need to cut back, but it sometimes doesn't always work that way.
My stallions are all sup to sire, my mares not so much unless I am really in a culling mood.
-
Thanks... I will cruise through the barns. Hopefully I won't drool on your horses too much.
-
They wash LOL ... my barns are pretty simple compared to a few others. App's and Snowflakes ... flashy KP ... and a few odds and ends. With the new changes to the Brindle my focus has shifted largely to that. Always been a sucker for a brindle :)

Do you already have a tattoo for your snowflakes? I've been making some tats to give me a rest when I'm too created-out. One looks pretty much like a snowflake, i could put it on a horse so you can see what it looks like. my price is pretty steep... i charge a smile and a hug. Totally off-topic.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2020-07-03 12:30:58

>.> @Corvus ; you claim to have a simple barn but I ve learned the hard way ; you , @Taliesin , @SharyahStables , @Herzeloyde ; to stay out or starting feeling like a 3 year old " I want them to be MINE MINE MINE" LoL
-
I do already have one :) thanks though. I just haven't kept up on them. They are also suppose to have matching backgrounds of the foundation Sires .. but again I haven't kept up there either ... I did get everyone named LOL
Thanks Annismyrph that makes me feel really awesome ... compared to those other accounts I feel like a tiny fish in a big ponds, mostly because I'm not a huge fan of the fantasy genes -
@Corvus ; neither am I ; I just can't quite get into a purple horse with lightening bolts ; somehow they don't look " real" to me ; tho some of them are COOL to look at lol.Post edited by annismyrph at 2020-07-04 07:31:50

Mhmm that's why I'm not trading my sea ponies in for gmt tokens... they look so pretty I just don't want to change them to an ordinary horse.
-
With my barns, I have a barn for studs, one for my bootstrap line, one for my brindle line, and then foals/still growing barns (the other barns are still "IV Purchase Barn" haha) that I move horses out of when they're old enough to breed.ID is 267069 / she/they/he

@ Taliesin that's a GREAT idea about the backgrounds btw ; I have been dong the "2" thing but backgrounds would be easy as well
