Breeding question
-
If I breed a baby and it's superior to the parent from the comparison test, why does it fail the breeding advice? In this instance, I bred this cute baby. Saw she papered red, tested her against the dam and she is superior but when I did breeding advice, she failed. Is it because she is uneven bred?

KhaosAcres is right. Nor was her breeding quality close to her sires. Comparison testing only tests against the same sex parent. BA and SBA compare against both parents.
Her uneven breeding is what caused it in part. If her sire had been B papered she probably wouldn’t have passed. Or if her dam was red, she might have had a better chance of passing. I have gotten foals to pass BA from foundation papered Red mares to A papered stallions, with a 30 pasture bonus.

Now that makes sense, I didn't even take that into consideration! Learning more everyday, thank you guys!Post edited by Oatsman at 2021-01-16 19:42:57

Honestly with a stallion that nice I’d breed him to 2g blue mares. You’d get more intact babies that way, and further down the line they’d have a higher chance of staying intact.
I purchased a similar stallion years ago, high quality A papered boy, I didn’t didn’t breed him evenly with mares, I had a lot of fun with his babies though, and he was/is my favorite stallion by far. He’s been gone for awhile now and just today I went looking for his descendants, I only have 6 intact descendants left.
