Cheshire Farms Dun Factor Appaloosas
-
Welcome to Cheshire Farms, where we've been breeding and showing Dun Factor horses since June 2020. This thread will act as our operations home base for all our programs. Be sure to follow for current events.
Cheshire Farms was started in May 2020, and when Dun Factor 1 was released that following June, we purchased our first DFP1 stallion named CF Showdown Kid. Cisco, as he was known around the barn, would go on to sire over 100 offspring and become the foundation of our breeding program. It's been over 57 HJ Years later, and Cheshire Farms has been home to a number of outstanding influential Foundation Stallions and Foundation Mares.Currently we are breeding 13 generations of even bred Dun Factor Appaloosas. All of our stallions have passed Strict Breeding Advice (SBA) and are Superior to Sire. Because there are so many Stallions standing at Stud, you can search for them here as well as in the chatroom.
In addition to our normal Standing Studs, we have discounted specials for Era Studs. These Stallions are standing in their Era Chats for $1hb each.Cheshire Farms now has a Public Chat Room and Forum Thread to help inform members of current horses we have for sale. We only offer horses that have passed Strict Breeding Advice (SBA) for sale. The Chatroom is open to the public.

Cheshire Farms has been home to many great Foundation Stallions over the years. Some have lived out their lives here at CF, while others have continued on helping other breeding programs. Below are the foundation studs currently at Cheshire Farms.
Genetics Found In Our Foundation Program
Currently over half of our studs are all Foundation Homozygous Recessive Varnish. These unique horses display minimal varnishing as they age, allowing the Dun Factor pattern to be seen for a longer period of time. When Dense Pheomelanin (DP) and Sooty (Sty) combine with Appaloosa Spot Regulator (ASR1), the results can be really large spots. Since spots do not varnish out in the Appaloosa, you can still see their Dun Factor markings. We also have Foundation horses that carry Inkspot, Toner, Watercolor, Chocolate, Splash White, Satin, Mushroom, and newly added Platinum.
CF Kolored Boldly EV
Foundation Stallion for the Dun Factor Appaloosa Program (breed to solid mares)
CF Smarty Cat EV
Foundation Stallion for the Dun Factor Appaloosa Program (breed to solid mares)
CF Dun Roven EV
Evergreen Foundation Clone
Foundation Stallion for the Dun Factor Appaloosa Program (breed to HET Appy mares)
CF Albe Wicked EV
Foundation Stallion for our Mushroom Program
CF Mr Architect EV
Foundation Stallion for our Cream Dun Appaloosa Program
CF Iza Mighty Bright B
Foundation of the Chocolate & Splashed Appaloosa Program
CF Midas Touch EV
Foundation Stallion for Platinum Dun Factor Appaloosa Program
*CF Aqua Washi EV
Foundation stallion for the Rainbow Appaloosa Program
CF The Chocolate Vault EV

Cheshire Farms has been home to a couple of great Foundation Mares over the years. Most have gone on to retirement now, and live on in Frozen Embryos. But we do have a couple that continue to be influential in our herd.
CF Cutters Quick Draw went on to have 36 foals at Cheshire Farms. Many of which were our first successful Embryo Transfers.
CF Silver Bolt went on to have 22 foals at Cheshire Farms. Her line is not as common any more due to her Silver Genes. She also was not an ExP mare, so her foundation was not as strong. She did go on to produce one of our top stallions with over 1000 show points, CF2 Silver Bullet.
CF Shez Playingforkeeps was the first HOM DFP2 mare we had, and went on to have 22 great foals at Cheshire Farms.
CF Blazing Summer, only had 13 foals at Cheshire Farms before retiring. The few Colts she had never passed inspection, so her bloodline is strictly carried by a couple of mares at CF.

These boys represent the first crop of Dun Factor Foals born and raised on Cheshire Farms. Over the years our program began with only Dun Factor 1, and as new genes were discovered, we started to incorporate them in at the foundation level. Many of our 2nd Gen boys have gone on to live long happy lives here at Cheshire Farms
CF2 Quick Draw Kid, pictured here at age 22, went on to have over 250 foals. Out of two of the first Dun Factor Foundations in the game, Quick Draw Kid went on to be a highly influential stud at CF.

Our 3rd generation Breeding Program is an exciting one. Because the nature of Dun Factor 1 is recessive, we don't see it's effects in our second gen horses when they are heterozygous. But during the 3rd generation breeding, now we start to see a lot of homozygous Dun Factor offspring, and the patterns are beautiful.
CF3 Quick To Joke is the oldest 3rd Gen HOM Stallion at Cheshire Farms, his sire line traces back to CF Showdown Kid, while is mare line is from the rarely bred CF Jokers Promenade. He's a great stallion to cover our loudly colored Leopard mares.

Like our other programs, this line carries Dun Factor 1 & 2 and Dense Pheomelanin. But because they are so far removed from foundation stock, it has taken longer to breed Mushroom, Pangare +, and Appaloosa Spotting Regulator into them.
CF5 Gunnin For Sun, homozygous for Dun Factor as well as Snowflake. While many of our horses are recessive for snow flake, it isn't common to see it express in our line. CF Gunnin For Sun descends from CF Snow Wolf, one of our first foundation Appaloosa Studs.

We have New Stallions!
With DFP1 and DP being added to the Rare Gene Roster for the second half of this month, Cheshire Farms went a little crazy LOL. Here are our new stallions:
CF Dun Stole It D1 DP

CF Perfect Luke D1 DP
Currently 2 years old

HOM Dun, Sooty, DP, and DunFactor1. Tonka is also an Evergreen horse, so he is homozygous for Recessive Varnish. Meaning he wont varnish out like normal Appaloosas.
CF Now You Dunit D1 DP
HOM Dun, Sooty, DP, DunFactor1, and Pattern1.
CF Slightly Stunning D1
HOM Dun, Sooty, DP, DunFactor1, and LP. -
New Stallions for June

The ideal color and pattern we strive to produce at CF is Dun with Dun-factoring, and a 50/50 ratio of white pattern to body color with large spots. We strive to achieve this by breeding Evergreen Bough HH's with genes like Sooty, DP, Appaloosa Spot Regulator 1, and alternative Pattern genes.
Since the release of Dun Factor Promoter 1 in June 2020, Cheshire Farms has been home to many outstanding foundation stallions. Some of these stallions were so influential they were awarded their own bloodline.
These mares were really the driving mechanism behind our program. Of the current 8 foundation mares that have come through Cheshire Farms, only CF IEM Elegant EV was an Evergreen Bough, she started her breeding season in Year 120 (May 2022). CF Godiva Cat and CF One Hot Beduino are unique because they carry Chocolate. Our most influential mare was CF Cutters Quick Draw. CF Silver Bolt's line is seen further along in the generations. Her most influential son was CF2 Silver Gun, with over 200 foals born. However her son that won the most awards was CF3 Quickdraw Bill. CF Blazing Summer and CF Shez Playingforkeeps introduced Dun Factor 2 to the breeding program.Post edited by CheshireFarms at 2022-05-31 18:05:33 -
This program started out of curiosity, and failed. But because I had invested so much money into it, I'm stubborn and wont give it up. The goal was to make Chocolate Dun Factor Appaloosas with Minimal Splash White Chrome. I was going to do this by breeding horses that had NO White Factor. However the games genetics don't work that way, and horses with no white factor were producing high levels of white. And as it turns out, while Chocolate is pretty, it also hates Dun Factor LOL. So I'm keeping this program small, but still keeping up with it.
CF Iza Mighty Bright B, is a Foundation Dun Splash Exceptional Producer and is homozygous for Dun, DP, Dunfactor, Brown and Splash White 1. Iza can Produce Black, Bay and Brown foals but will not produce Chestnut. To breed to this stallion, join the public chat room called "Chocolate Covered Horses"
CF2 Iza Big Goer B, is heterozygous for Dun Factor and Chocolate. Biggy is the best stallion we have bred so far, having won the Champion Top Producing Stallion Year 118 for Era 11.
CF Godiva Cat B D1, is a Chocolate Grulla and as you can tell, you barely make out her Dun Factor markings. She used to have splash as well, but when we discovered the way white breeding works, we had to remove it from her.
CF One Hot Beduino B, is a Chocolate Bay Dun and like Godiva, she also is barely expressing any Dun Factor Markings.
CF2 Iza Chocolate Cat, is the daughter of Godiva and is homozygous for Dun Factor and Chocolate.
Above are some of our 2nd gen Splashed White Chocolate Appaloosas that we bred.Post edited by CheshireFarms at 2022-04-30 08:05:02
