Organization Tips?
-
How in the HECK does everyone keep all of their horses organized here? For some reason on other horse sim games that I have played—I haven’t questioned how to keep everyone organized. But it has become quite a dilemma for me! I have my show horses separated into their own show barns, but the others I am having difficulty. Separate by breeding project? By foundation vs. generation? And how do you decide which horses go on to “greener pastures” and which ones stay to continue the lines? Man oh man!

lol, I feel this.
At the moment I'm trying to improve my show herd, but in doing so I've entirely lost my breeding plans! -
I separate by generation and color ; and sex lol ; showbarns get all my spelds ; 1g blueroan apps , etcetc ; 1g liver etcetc

My pastures are by generatioms and coat colors/genes to focus on. My barns are either for holding ET mares or show barns.

I separate by generation, each gen gets there own barn (60 stall or less for each gen) which is mostly studs, lined mares that are 3 and up usually go to pastures for breeding and building up there 30 day bonus, then I separate by paper levels ( example a barn name could be "2nd Gen Red" & "3rd Gen Blue") and I try to keep fantasy genes separate from the main herd as well, so they also get there own fantasy barn and the primary barn I use mostly for my foundations and/or any on-going project horses. It may also help you to put a horses paper and generation in there name to make sorting or finding easier for you, I do it like this "2R Horse Name", the 2R meaning that the horse is a 2nd gen red papered mare which would go in the 2nd Gen Red/B barn, a 2nd gen stud would be "2B Horse Name" and so on. And if you want to remember if they have a certain gene or not then you could add the genes abbreviation at the end of the horses name, like if I want to know which horse has Frame or Snowflake from a drop down menu, then there names would be something like this "3Blu Horse Name SF or 2B Horse Name F". I find that it helps a ton for me when I'm breeding and sorting! Of course if you have a certain breeding line or project going then you would have separate barns for them and sort by genes or color (which ever your goal is). I have only just started doing this and don't have enough barns to completely sort by genes yet lol! Hope this helps! :)Celestial Angels, The Balinor Breed! We Specialize In Riding Horses & Ponies!

Until recently I tried to stick to only one breeding line per account, and it kept things much easier. Right now this account has three different lines, my main line, a bootstrap line and a WW/lace line. I breed by generation, and my sorting is based on names. All names start with a generation prefix 1g,2g exc. My bootstrap horses names all start with UE, and I don't need anything else to distinguish them. For my WW/Lace all names start with generation-name-BC, the BC tells me they belong to the WW line. For my main line I only use the generation, since any other sorting is un-necessary. All show horses names start with a Zz.
I have one barn for stallions, and all my stallions have to fit in that barn typically a 15-30 stall barn. I have one pasture and the mares in there are by generation, I have two 90-120 stall mare barns for my primary line, one 90 stall bootstrap barn, a 90 stall sorting barn for foals, and a 15 stall barn for my WW/Lace line. Then several barns for show horses.
As for your last question. It depends on your priorities, quality, quantity, color, size, Pt, exc. My first priority is quality. All my generation lines start with B/Red foundations, so all 2g horses have to be A/Blue or paper superior to their parents, all 3g horses have to be A/Blue and test superior. As generations progress I get stricter on my color requirements. For my bootstrap line I am primarily breeding for PT, though I am starting to work on quality. I keep all of my spay and gelded horses and they go directly into a show barn.
