One of the main things new players always have an issue with is hbs. With a new account you'll be creating horses that have a daily showing bonus. Try using only Exceptionally Perfect, Exceptional Producing Appaloosa, or Exceptional Show Herd Helpers for all your creates. It will take a little longer to build a good show herd for your daily bonus, but benefit you in the long run as they show longer because those Herd Helpers have a 10.4 PT. Save ALL the ponies that have over a 30 daily hbs payout. Sell or auction the rest. Once you've reached the limit on the pointed creates you should have a nice daily bonus built up.

Working your way through the Achievement Tasks (brown box in the right margin) will get you acquainted with a lot of the basic things in the game.

This is a very friendly and helpful groups, so please never hesitate to ask specific questions. Someone (or more than one) will be around to give you answers. The game is too complex (like real life :D) to explain the whole thing in a forum post.
