Breeding hunters to jumpers

Bad idea, or no big deal? I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake by not sorting my girls for H v J when breeding to a J stud, etc.
Any thoughts?
Thanks:)

I don't believe it makes any difference. I've never checked to see whether the sire's discipline of the dam's is dominant when mixing the two, but since you can change a horse's discipline without any damage to its career so long as you do it before training begins, I'm pretty sure there is no effect on the showing ability.Thanked by 1Lucky strike

I've never taken any notice, but it might be like breeding sport ponies to warmbloods, doesn't matter and the foal has a chance of being eitherPost edited by Kintara at 2015-04-06 14:06:51
