Bred two cobs and got a draft? (Breed question)
-

I'm very new to this. I bred two of my foundation cobs and they produced a draft foal. So now I'm curious. Is this possible or a bug? I don't want to automatically say it is because I don't know for sure how this game works yet. (I really have no idea because, again, I'm really new to genetics and horse stuff in general, not to mention this game itself.) If it isn't an error, then could someone explain it to me? I'm really interested in knowing.
Thank you in advance.

It is possible, since those cobs are on the bigger side of the cob spectrum it is physically possibleLicensed for Mushroom,Onyx, Watercolor, Ice 13, ice 16, Phantom lace, Phantom Diamond sparkle.

So it's something that could really happen? From my limited understanding height/bone size are part of determining breeds/types, though I guess I'll only really be able to see once he's an adult. This is what has always confused me about equines, haha.

In this game and in life equines are classified in two heights, pony and horse. Ponies are any equines measured under 14.2 hands at the top of the shoulder. Horses are any equines taller than that.
There are also 3 bone weights in the game; light, medium, and heavy. Light horses and ponies are 1.4 in bone density and under. Medium horses and ponies are 1.5-2.4. Heavy horses and ponies are 2.5 and above.
This game doesn’t actually have “breeds” like most horse games, just types. There are 6 types in the game, that combine the two heights with the three weights. A Riding Pony is an animal under 14.2 hands in height, and 1.4 or less in bone density. A Riding Horse is same weight as the Riding Pony, just over 14.3 hands in height. Sport Ponies are between 1.5 and 2.4 in weight and 14.2 hands or under. Warmbloods are the medium weight horses; so between 1.5 and 2.4 in weight and taller than 14.3 hands.
Cobs are the heavy ponies, with a bone weight of greater than 2.5 and height under 14.2. Drafts are the heavy horses, meaning height is over 14.3 and weight over 2.5.
Every breeding animal in the game has a range of numbers that they can pass on to an offspring for height and weight. So two Cobs, (heavy ponies) who are near or at the top of the height range for ponies, (14.2) can actually produce a foal that exceeds the height limit for a pony and is classified as a draft. (Heavy horse).
Hope that helps some.Post edited by Wingedeagle at 2021-06-10 20:15:24 -
That makes a lot of sense, thank you. I'm not used to horse genetics and breeding, so it's nice to get some clarifying info on it. This will definitely give me a bit of a challenge to work around in the long run. ^^

In real life Arabian stallions are well known for producing foals taller than themselves, so it’s definitely possible! Just like a real life human can be taller than both parents :)I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!

You can actually go from one exteme to the other by selective breeding. For example, you can start with the biggest drafts and by selecting the smaller horses each generation, you will eventually get riding ponies.
And a note on Arab studs producing taller foals, that's no joke! I had a 14.2 hand Arab stud and all of his get were 15+, even out of mares under 15 hands.Thanked by 1Nightphoenix
