I believe that speed training only works for Era 0 horses because there are so many of them. It adds 1 week's worth of training, so if your horse gains 3 points with training, it will gain three points each time you speed train it. However, if the horse is leveled off, or has reached a point where it takes it many weeks to add a point even if it is not leveled off, it will only gain the fraction of a point that it might still be gaining with the weekly trainings.

I think that many horses may gain 3.? points each week, so that the pattern looks something like +3 points, +3 points, +4 points, for example.
