Mare advice
-
I have a 4th gen mare that just papered red. She's her dam's only foal, so I don't know if her dam would have papered better, but I doubt it.
I'm debating on if I should keep her because she papered red. I would prefer blue.
She has had 3 foals so far, all fillies in a row, and all passed SMA and SAT.
I'm thinking that she may be in the overlapping area between red and blue because her foal PTs are 11.2, 11.1 and 10.3. Her average foal pt is 10.87.
Any thoughts? -
Do you like the foals? If yes, then do you have what you want out of her, or is there a cross you'd like to see that you haven't done yet?
The bottom line is that it's really about what you like and what you want. But those are the two questions I ask myself when faced with this choice. :) -
Thanks, Gael, I'll have to think about it.

If it helps, my 2nd gen foals average a PT of 10.5 and I have quite a few which are 11 and above.
My 3rd gen foals PTs average 10.9 and go up to 11.5 so I would expect my 4th gens to be 11.9 average.... -
I don't work with boosted lines, so I usually don't see PTs that high. My foundation stallions are usually C and B to start with. However, since I just started pasture breeding my 2nd and 3rd gens, with time, the scores should start improving.
