How do you tell which horse(s) have the license?
-
I've somehow managed to get down to only 1 licensed horses for heart, but I don't know which one it is so I can name it accordingly and not accidentally sell or auction it. First, I think it has to be a foundation, is that correct? How else can I narrow down the possibilities? When I do a search and unclick "lined" in status, I get no horses showing up at all.
And what happens to the license when the horse passes away?Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-02-01 22:10:31 -

You currently have over 200 with the heart license. 131 are intact. (No foundations owned) If all of them were to pass away, you should still maintain the license. You can buy from others. The believe the only way you could lose it is through the Gift Exchange (gifting a foundation with it)Post edited by SeahorseFarms at 2023-02-01 22:15:49Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
My "own closed gene licenses" show only 1 license for hearts.

Horses do not have licenses. You have the license.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-02-02 00:55:41Need to contact me? Read this first.

You might think of it this way: When you(or someone you pay with hbs) pays for a licensed gene to be added to your horse, you receive a license with your fancy new horse. This license allows you to own and breed this special gene, and the license is kept in a frame on the wall in your stable's office. You own the license, no matter how many horses you breed, sell, or auction away with that special gene. You can even sell the original horse you added the gene to. The license stays in your office, with your name on it. Every time you buy that gene for one of your horses, you get another copy of the license to add to your wall.
However, if you choose to give an intact foundation horse with that special gene to another player during the gift exchange, you have to take a copy of the license off your wall and send it with the horse so that the player can receive the horse. If you have multiple copies on your wall, you can keep buying and breeding horses with that gene. If you only had one copy and you've just given it away, you have to buy it again if you want to breed with the gene again.
Is this helpful? Or did I muddy it up? -
@MackZ that was a lovely way to explain it :) Since I am a visual learner ; that help Huge to be able to think of them on a wall !

Mack, that was excellent. I finally understand that.Thanked by 1MackZ

I'm glad I could help! Sometimes what makes sense to me sounds a bit nuts to other people...
