Made something special for my aunt
  • As some may know, my aunt passed away the day after Christmas... her Celebration of Life is March 18th (the day after her birthday and 2 days before mine) and my mom wanted me to make her wife something special but I couldn't think of what to do...

I recently got a Cricut and have been playing with SVGs for a decal for my Aunt Vaun's car as she has said she wanted one for my Aunt Cristie but none of them felt like "the one"...

Something hit me smack dab in the face tonight though and I was able to come up with this!

I am so excited and nervous over it but I can't show anyone except for my parents and my husband so here I am looking for opinions [-O<

I was able to extract my Aunt Cristie's actual handwriting from a card to my Aunt Vaun that we had to tactfully ask her for a picture of without tipping her off (my aunt vaun actually has this tattooed on her wrist as well)
And the picture of them I was able to render down into line work from one of my favorite pictures of them.. (my aunt cristie is on the right)

Is there anything I should change?

Also, I doubt it but if anyone here knows my Aunt Vaun or her family or friends, please keep this hush hush! [-O< :o3

  • It's lovely, my only concern is whether the font you used is legible enough, the image is great

  • Um Fiddler that's kind of a tactless comment. She did not use a font. That is her aunt's actual hand writing.
Need to contact me? Read this first.

I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

  • I had no idea. When artists critique each other, they have to be honest. If that's her aunt's handwriting, it makes perfect sense to leave it as is.
I apologize for not reading all the way through, i was so excited about your work that i didn't read the last paragraph

  • This brought tears to my eyes. So beautifully done, it is perfect!
  • Thank you everyone!

I lost my heart and soul on April 12th (April 12th is also my uncle's birthday who passed away last year in a motorcycle accident)..

She was my best friend for 11 years and I'm having a hard time with her passing... she was always with me, she knew when I wasn't okay and would yell at me until I went and laid down with her.. her purrs were so calming... she had a suspected brain tumor..
The last year and a half has been horrible... I lost my grandmother September 4th,2021, my uncle May 29th,2022, my grandmother (also my uncle's mother) 7 weeks later in July 11th, my aunt December 26th and now Starr on April 12th... my grandfather isn't doing well either and was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer om December 4th, 2022... my heart is just done at this point...

Anyways, enough rambling... this is Starr's decal I made for myself...
