Chrome shouldn't have any problems with ads - do you have a malware checker? Malwarebytes is a good one, so is Spybot. Between the two, they'll keep your computer pretty clean.

https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/ and https://www.safer-networking.org/dl/ are where you can get them.

I have to wonder if the same problem you have in Chrome is messing with Firefox in a less visible way? If so, the two programs above should clean it up.

You could also try the Safari browser, or even IE. As much as I hate to recommend IE, it does seem to work well on this game.

Apple has stopped supporting/updating the Windows version at the moment, who knows what they'll do in the future.

You just had hung session it is normal and will happen from time to time with any website you use a lot. Just close and reopen your browser to fix.
