Tell us what Breed Characteristics you want to see next
-
We are starting to plan out the next set of BCs. Our current plan is to have the Morgan, Lusitanio, and Shire but we really want to know what breeds you want to see featured.
Please post your suggestions with a horse breed you want to see added to the game. If you want a very dished fashed arab, or a heavy set quarter horse please make sure you are specific and give examples. Otherwise, we will assume you mean a generic member of that breed. You can post photos/links if you want, and explain why you think a breed should be added next. It's ok to repost the same breed or variants of a breed posted by someone else. It's also ok to have variants of breeds we already have represented.
This is just our brainstorming phase. There will be a round of voting to help us decide on the final picks.
_______
EDIT: Posting this here since people tend not to read the thread before posting.
We have sat down and gone over people's suggestions.
Right now our plan is:
Light: Traditional Arabian
Medium: Stock type QH and a Lusitaino/Andalusian (a true wb would be better but I want a Spanish breed lol!)
If Jenx has time he will try to also get out a Fjord before the end of the year.
We also have a Halloween BC in the works.

Classic Arabian!Post edited by bluchrystals at 2023-08-15 10:39:09

I love arabians, but the ultra extreme ones do nothing for me. It is a game, of course, so I won't be riding them but. . . I think the current "Riding Horse" tweaked out a little, (so for example, the shorter ones don't have disproportionately long backs) would make a lovely Arabian.
Morgans are cool, I look forward to seeing them. -
Thoroughbred - the slim ultra athletic racehorse build
Hanoverian, Holsteiner or Dutch Warmblood type - tall athletic more uphill dressage or show jumper build
Shetland pony or minis would be super cuteThanked by 1Fiddler -
Super excited for Morgans!
And I would love to see a Spanish Baroque type (so the Lusitano also gets my vote)
A fine boned Ahkal Teke would also be neat.

I would LOVE LOVE to see an American Miniature Horse or Shetland line added! I’m not really good at adding photos or outside links, but I love the Miniatures who are within breeds standards and in show shape; thin legs, dished face, high head!
-
You can also link to websites with the type of horse you like. Keep in mind these will come in all sizes from 20hh to down, so they might look odd as full-sized horses.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I would love to see something like a falabella or a Shetland pony! Or even a donkey/ mule prospect :x :x

@bluchrystals can you define what "Classic" Arabian means to you? You seem to have a wide mix of styles in your images.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-08-15 11:34:31Need to contact me? Read this first.

Refined body style, slightly dished nose(very hard to find a profile). I shared the ones that I found that were only slightly dished. The exaggerated dish nose of the current Arabians is something I have never gotten used to.Post edited by bluchrystals at 2023-08-15 11:52:00

I would consider several of the ones you posted to be very exaggerated dished. Maybe they have gotten even more extreme since I last looked at the breed.

I would love a straight Egyptian Arabian with a high arched neck, almost level with the ground head, smoothly rounded barrel, high tail carriage, and nicely dished face, so it looks delicate and elegant, not extreme to the point of weird. I love the kinds of Arabians that look so refined they could be porcelain sculptures, and they can wear just a single thin chain of a halter and it doesn't look flimsy on them. Anything heavier would look bulky.
If we're allowed two votes, I'd love a Shire for the next heavy type. I'll post pictures later. :)

This is not for voting, just gauging interst. You can suggest as many as you wish. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

@cavalynn I like most that you posted except "scapa"
-
I would consider Scapa to fall into the very extreme category. It is interesting how everyone agrees they don't want super dishy Arabians but that seems to be a lot of what is getting posted on all 3 servers. It's very confusing from an artist point of view.Need to contact me? Read this first.

@Cavalynn, I'd consider Scapa heavily dished. My preferred type is of the "ideal" shape you posted in the examples. Most of the ones I saw when looking for my examples have the "camel nose" profile.
I need to refresh before I post :)) looks like I'm in the majority on Scapa.
Yes, Ammit. That is also what I would consider classical though maybe with a tad more "dish". Body style and neck is spot on though.Post edited by bluchrystals at 2023-08-15 13:08:17 -
All three of those you’re considering would make me squeal! Especially Morgan, but I’d probably be looking to add Lusitanio and Shire to my barn somehow as well :))
For Morgans, I’m a big fan of this style
I’m actually becoming pretty attached to the Saddlebred, more than I thought I would, but a nice Morgan could probably take me away pretty quick :))
For Arabians, I like the style of the one you posted, Ammit, and the second one that Cavalynn posted.
My favorite Arabian has long been the Crabbat, especially this stallion Rasham
Although I guess he kind of looks a little Morgan-y so I guess my tastes are consistent :))
The Phara Farm Arabians were what I coveted in the early days of me on the internet drooling over horses :)) I like their type of extreme head more so than the more modern halter version of an extreme head
The picture didn’t post so I’ll be back with examples of them. Let’s try to direct link the gallery!
https://www.phara-farm.pharaheritagesociety.com/set/10bc903e-608e-40e7-965a-89e40a59fe0a
Last Edit: linking the gallery worked! Those are all the pictures of the horses from the now long gone Phara Farm website. I used to pour over that page so much :))Post edited by paradoxphoenix at 2023-08-15 13:12:55 -
@Paradoxphoenix, I've drooled over Khemosabi since I was a little girl. He's always been my absolute favorite Arabian. Dark with all that chrome just made him a dream. Crabbat seems to have close to the same body type as Khemosabi.
-
We’ll see if this posts, but Mr Livingston is my favorite example of a Thoroughbred
Edit, it did not. *cries in all my favorite horses are gone*
His picture is still on Pinterest but nowhere elsePost edited by paradoxphoenix at 2023-08-15 13:15:55 -
This horse?
Also, I want to be clear, I don't care if we have 8 different Arabians if that is what people keep voting on. We can have all sorts of different types eventually.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Quarter Horse/Stock horse type, I’m pretty partial to my own gelding :)) Built real nice. He’s more or less like the clone of this sire, Mechanic
Edit: thanks for the image hosting help!
My son of Mechanic, who I think has pretty nice type. Probably a little “generic” as far as QH goes but that’s not always a bad thing lolPost edited by paradoxphoenix at 2023-08-15 13:54:11 -
Yes, that one!
Thanks Ammit!
I adore his body type.Post edited by paradoxphoenix at 2023-08-15 13:47:52 -

I am seeing lots of quarter-horse suggestions but I think it probably makes more sense to have more of a warmblood type for our next one since we don't have a super warmblood type to represent them yet.Need to contact me? Read this first.

A more warmblood-type light horse? (So, thoroughbreds, Morgans etc?)
Or more warmblood/medium boned breed suggestions? (Hanoverian, etc)
-
The warmbloods in the game are medium bone so I would be looking for medium-boned breeds.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I'd love to see Andalusions! To me they are the 'ideal' medium-boned' horses, I just love their proportions and over-all look

Egyptian arabian
Lusitano
Andalusian
Tennessee walker
Paso Fino
Akhal Teke
Fell Pony
Hackney

@paradoxphoenix Your boy is gorgeous. Mechanic is one of my all time favs. Stopped to see him whenever he was at the shows!

I posted some photos of the Classic or rather Egyptian and some older Arabian body types on the Mesa server. I think the very dished headed horses could not do the job they are bred for.
I would love to the Kladruber/Kladruby horses make a nice medium to heavy Bc body type. I also would warmbloods like, Trakehner, Dutch warmblood and any of the other warmblood breeds.
I would definitely pay to unlock BC art for

@SeahorseFarms, thank you! That’s so cool you got to see Mechanic show! I side tracked out of that world into the ranch stuff for a while so I missed him. Discovered him shortly before he passed because of my boy. Fell in love immediately!
VS Code Red was my one true love before finding Mechanic lol -
@ammit I agree. The classic Arabs could do it all, race, endurance, family pet, riding horse. That's the Arab horse I owned and loved
-
I’m kind of spamming at this point so I’ll try to make it helpful spam lol
Cleveland Bay could make a lovely Medium bone breed!
And the Lippizan! It would be fun to make the Lippizan appear in all kinds of different colours like they used to once upon a time! -
Fjord would also be fun for Medium BoneThanked by 1DressageChickFL

Fjord sport pony ! Way cool!
-
Honestly, I think you could get away with the Irish Draught as a medium bone horse because they’re typically much sportier that a true draft horse like a Belgian or Clyde or Shire
It if they would be preferred as a Heavy Bone BC, the Irish Sport horse might be a very elegant choice -
It's best to keep it to just a few breeds you want to see next most of all. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

Pryor Mustangs could also be called Medium
-
Oops! Sorry, I didn’t see your post before I made the last one. I was just tossing out ideas in general for inspiration for people lol
The ones I want the most are all light breeds :))
Morgan, Quarter Horse, and Thoroughbred. Probably Morgan most of all. I could definitely be drawn in by certain Arabian types.
Medium… If you go through with the Lusitanio, I’ll probably want them lol -
Some thoughts based on suggestions so far
Light: It seems like a traditional Arab of some sort would be very desirable. I think this is probably our next light boned.
Medium: Lots of calls for stock-bred Quarter Horses, but I really think we need something more fitting of that Warmblood monicer this round, and then do the QH next go.
Heavy: Not a ton of suggestions for these. I have seen Fjords, Vanners, and Fell ponies mentioned more than once each.
One option might be to do an Arab, a QH and a Warmblood and skip heavies this round. I have no plans to make it one of each, each time we put something out. There are far more of the lighter breeds to explore.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-08-15 19:16:11Need to contact me? Read this first.

@DressageChickFL I second the Akhal Teke - it’d be even better if it had the so shiny spray programmed in automatically since the sheen is a breed characteristic
@paradoxpheonix I second the Lipizzaner - I think they’d make a good medium bone candidate since they’re kind of in-between the current QH style medium bone art and the Friesian art and their head shape is pretty distinctive
@Ammit I like the idea of skipping the heavies this time and doing either 2 light and 1 medium or 2 medium and 1 lightPost edited by RedtailFoxFarm at 2023-08-15 19:56:06 -
