The colors and letters are paper levels that indicate the horse's breeding ability. C, B, A, and Star are for stallions. C is the lowest breeding ability and Star is the highest. Yellow, Red, Blue, and Gold are for mares. Yellow is the lowest and Gold is the highest. **Star and **Gold is the highest level without boosting. ***Star/***Gold can only be gotten by boosting the horse.

Consistent and Inconsistent is part of showing ability. Consistent horses will have the same show score each time they show at a particular training level, but inconsistent horses might show a little higher or a little lower than their training level. Inconsistency doesn't really effect your showing bonus in the long run, but it does lower PT, so many players cull inconsistent horses because it is heritable.
