Mare Papering
-
How old do mares have to be to be papered? I am currently only able to test one of my mares for papering and she is 6 years old.
-
It is nothing to do with age. The mare must have three foals in order to paper her. I can't remember whether you have to have PT'd them, I don't think so.
-
Oh ok, thanks! That makes more sense. I have PT'd all my mares so that shouldn't be an issue. Ok, so I'll need at least one more breeding season on most of them then. Thanks so much!
-
Note: Must have three *living* foals...if you yum one along the way, it won't count. :)
-
While we are on this subject, do embryo transfer foals count?
-
Embryo transfer foals count for the mare who the egg is from. They don't count for the mare who acts as the surrogate dam :)

Yeah, that's what I meant. Thanks!
