To quit or not to quit
-
Hi!
So I don't really know what I'm asking for here but after 13 years of playing I'm for the first time ever considering quitting.
Since having my second baby almost 7 months ago I have barely had a chance to play and I'm so behind and have had so many pastures sold before I even got to them which never use to happen :(( my horses are just aging away and being a member for this long I so don't want to lose all that work but I know if I leave it'll probably be too hard to come back and start again which is why it's such a hard decision. I wish there was a pause button so I could just come back when life isn't so crazy.
Alot of members these days probably don't even know who I am because I've been very quiet for years now, just plodding along but I would totally miss this community.
Anyway, not sure what I'm looking for posting but just wanted to share how I'm feeling :(ID - 160680

Maybe you're overwhelmed with life and need to take a break and think about coming back later. I needed to take a break from Bluegrass and Mesa for a while and just play on Forest so I pulled a bunch of eggs and straws from my favorite horses and just logged in once a month for a while to pull more eggs and convert HBs into IVs so I would have them when I came back later. I didn't bother with showing so the amount of hbs I was earning dwindled in time but when I came back I had a pile of IVs and was at the HB cap and had nice straws and eggs to get started back up. Maybe you should try something like that so you can give yourself a break to focus on your baby and real life and come back when you're feeling it again. The other option would be to just create a new account later because you really can't restart later without saving up resources since you wouldn't be able to create pointed horses.Thanked by 1clarebear

I will say as a fellow parent, you have hit what is probably the hardest time for babies and you have another kid as well! That's a lot! It's ok to walk away and come back. It will take an entire real-life year before your herd will be majorly impacted by a break. That's a very long time in baby/kiddo time. You will be in a different place then.
I would not start a new account because you have invested a lot in pastures/genes etc. Stash a few hundred *** staws/eggs and walk away. They will be there to rebuild things with once you are ready.
There is no need to put some hard label on things and make it all or nothing.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

I completely agree with Ammit! It’s totally okay to take a break. I’d be happy to help however I can when you return, and I’m sure many others here would as well. Take care of you!Post edited by GoldenHeartAcres at 2024-09-29 10:05:26Thanked by 1clarebear

Just to say, I know who you are as I'm also a long term player. :) Lots of people take a break and come back later on. I think that's great advice about storing some straws and eggs from your favourite horses, and when you come back there will probably be something new and exciting happening that you will want to get involved in. In the meantime, enjoy your children, they grow up fast. :DThanked by 1clarebear

We got a lot of the OG people in this thread. I started playing when I was in hs. I haven’t played in a long time. Life gets really busy. What I do is just check up every now and then. I’m sorry you feel overwhelmed this game has changed a lot over the years.Thanked by 1clarebear

Thank you so much for the lovely comments! I knew posting would help somehow! I definitely am feeling overwhelmed like there's never enough hours in a day and of course the game gets left at the bottom of the priority list at the moment :( it's hard to even get on my laptop at all during the day and night time... well for those that are parents know what small human sleep is like :)) I know it's not forever, it's just the season we're in right now.
A few of you make an awesome (and you'd think, obvious :))) point, I have a ridiculous amount of eggs and straws I can always use to get back into it eventually. That definitely gives me some relief so thanks for the reminder!
@WhiteValley now I'm curious, have you always been WhiteValley? :-? and yes, they grow up way too fast!ID - 160680

Yes - apart from the fact there used to be a space between the White and the Valley. I had to take the space out because the rules changed. :)

I’ve been trying to build a career the past few years so I’ve had wide spans of time where I haven’t been able to play much. Or I’ve been so unsettled that I don’t have the mental space to sit and sort my horses. I really really need to narrow down my breeding herd. I’m finally starting to get more serious about it and keep only the best of the best to get things more manageable.
But I guess my point is, in spite of I frequent play, it’s worth it to keep your account and come back when you can. It’s not too hard to get things rolling again when you do have time :)Thanked by 1clarebear
