I've always just picked a base color and stuck with it. Back in the Shoco/Western Horse Game years it was palomino roan, and silver grullo roan. On the Forest server I did black liver chestnuts for ages, but when I wanted something new I altered all the livers, did a bunch of searches to see which were the LEAST popular colors/sizes and now I'm doing gulastra plume bay/brown sport ponies and switched from doing even generations to matching only the papers.

It feels REALLY strange to match papers, after decades of matching generations, and I haven't decided which way to go over here yet. I am going to do a GMT fandango! I have a nice dark silver bay stud, a liver boy, and I'm working on a champagne colt. I'm a huge fan of the darker shades.

ETA: I am also trying out a new naming protocol. Naming is my very FAVORITE thing! My breed name is Abara which is spirit in West African, and I'm using it as a last name for everything. So Suzy Abara, Billy Abara, Dominion Abara, etc. Just seeing if I like it.

I'm with you on switching to matching paper levels. I'm a long term player who always matched generations before, but just two or three seasons ago I switched to paper levels, and like you, it seems very strange. I'm trying to cut down on breeding everything in sight to just having two lines on here. One is bay, with not too much white, as I just love how bay looks with all the changes Ammit has made. The other I have named my 'Danger Herd' and this has horses that carry white genes. I have enough hbs that I can take any losses caused by lethal genes. Again, I like the look of the updated white genes that Ammit has worked on. :)

@Fiddler I'm Summertree Farms (1998) on Forest. I also have a Confluence account over there.

@WhiteValley - I have limited myself to JUST pasture breeding on Forest. Large foal crops challenge my naming practice (name everything) and I verge on being overwhelmed. Over here on Bluegrass I am going to play around with all kinds of white! I've spent tons of time avoiding the potentially lethal whites now I'm going to go crazy!

@annismyrph, you get the liver boys name, right? Unsolicited Richard...pic?

You know we have a way to automatically rename horses don't you? I have always named my horses, even the spelded ones. Since the introduction of the name generator it has made it so much easier to name all my foals.

I've used the generator to add a suffix or prefix to a name, but I just have a blast coming up with @300 names every season!

They don't all die. We're talking about horses that carry a heavy load of white and taking the risk that some of the foals will die, but others will survive. You need to be a big enough stable to take the risk of losing the hbs you spent on breeding.
