http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2649712 What would you guys do with this mare? She is repeatedly showing at the bottom of her class and through the year 55 she has only made 7 points (so far). But I like her high amount of points she has accumulated.

I would hang on to her for what she adds to your bonus at present, but probably not show her.

I agree with Sandy Creek. I would let her sit out for a little while, let her train and then try showing her again in about 3-4 weeks, or wait until she levels off and then try her again. If she were mine, I probably would sell her and get a better show horse, BUT i have been playing for many years and have LOTS of show horses. I looked at your barn and you cant afford to replace her right now. So stick her in your Primary barn so she wont show for a few weeks and let her bring in the bonus without costing you money. In the mean time, I wouldn't worry about breeding too much and focus on show horses. I have no idea of what money you have available, but if you are strapped, don't breed. If you do, then do all free testing for now, don't worry about consistency testing or PT, to help save money and keep all of your snipped horses. In a few months they will be your show horses. By saving money on skipping one breeding season, you can spend that money on good show horses that you can find in auctions or by asking people here if they have any for sale. 2-3 exceptional show horses purchased for 5-7k will reward you greatly in the long run.

As of right now I am sitting at 213,044 hb. I haven't done much breeding to try and save.

Looking at her age and her PT, I would say that it will take her a while to gain enough to raise her position in her classes by much. I once had a group of 11.* neuters that gained 5 points almost every week until they were 10 years old, when their point gains slowed down by a marked amount and it would take them several months to get through a level/grade. Definitely, let her rest for a while before showing her again. You will notice that she's been showing near the bottom of 8L since the beginning of July.Thanked by 1Abbey98
