Aren't Kittens Just The Cutest!
-
So we have Tom's running around that both appeared out of nowhere and got EVERY cat pregnant. And one cat in particular, (Shadow) has had babies right here on the porch this morning! They are so cute!
And this is who's responsible...
Look at him... acting so pleased with himself. Freaking cat. He's such chaos. But at home he's an angel, but down here oh no he's Satan alright.Post edited by Wolvevenfrost at 2019-04-26 07:50:02 -
Were I his owner, I would have had him neutered. It would have reduced or stopped his spraying, and it would have made the litter box smell less strong. I get that kittens are cute, yes, but there's a time and place for them.
I take that the females are barn cats? I would have had them spayed too. -
I've got three cats. Had more but I think the neighbors have inherited one by way of feeding her. :D I've had all mine fixed because kittens are hard to give away. Well, except the one in the enclosed porch...She's waiting on her appointment though. She was a new aquiree last summer by way of the kids.

We have a "friendly" stray all black cat that showed up at our door one day. We took him in and make sure he's taken care of. He's fed, watered, he has a litter box in the house when he overnights, and he still wants to go outside to play with his cat buddy one house over. We've not been able to fully switch him to house cat because we aren't able to build a catio for him, and we can't have a 2nd cat so he would have a buddy to play with indoors.
We took him to the vet when he showed up. He was in pretty good health, he had an ear notch, and the vet said he was already neutered, so that must have been from a TNR program which would explain the ear notch.
Really, the only problem with him is that he's not really that tolerant with our 4 year old daughter who I call little Sith for obvious reasons if you know toddlers. Basically, she wants to play with him and he's not in the mood to play. So of course, she gets scratched. We tell her to leave him alone and that he wants to sleep. She's so stubborn, lol.

Mine are all calm, thank goodness. My second daughter was quite fond of picking them up by their tail when she was younger. @-)

@Forestshadow it's not the first time and sadly won't be the last...my family (from my moms sisters side) who owns him for some reason don't want to go get him neutered even though I've demanded it multiple times. As for all the feral female cats around here, we are poor and don't have enough money to spay them all, as paying for food and bills is already enough as is. Even though I've demanded that my grandpa either get them homes or take them to a no-kill shelter he hasn't done anything and just keeps them around and feeds them, up until they are old enough to be on there own. But we don't have any no-kill shelters near us and he won't make a far away trip to do it. Which DEEPLY UPSETS ME. Only killing shelters are near us. Last time he's been to all of them they've put every kitten down upon arrival because they thought they had rabies. Which my grandpa could easily have told them they don't. It's so sad, he brought them in, they took samples, sent the samples for testing and immediately put the kittens down, then when they got the tests back they were negative. Such ***holes. So he will never go back, and I don't blame him. I've tried my best so hard to find the last batch of kittens homes as well...all cat havens and shelters were no longer taking in cats and were closing down forever or were completely full. I've contacted so many to no avail. I wish my mom could let me get a job so I could get some money to spay and neuter them all. But she won't let me for some weird and dumb reason. This is all so easily preventable, but they won't let me do anything about it. I have started fights with them about it before, it's best I don't do it again as I got in deep trouble. It breaks my heart knowing their future, but I make sure that their beginning is sweet and full of love. I hate my family for this sometimes, it angers me. I wish there was something I could do.Post edited by Wolvevenfrost at 2019-04-26 08:50:38

I don’t know where you guys are at. But where I’m at we’ve Never had a problem getting rid of kittens. My mom would post something on our FB garage sale page and they’d all be gone within a couple days with more people asking for kittens. These were also in town homes. Though a few went to a couple farms, but that wasn’t the kittens only option. Where I’m at there’s also free spay nuter clinics every few months for Farm/Ranch cats or for people who cannot pay. It might be something to look into.

We're not going to encourage anyone to attempt any veterinary procedures without the proper education and certification. :|

No its just a bad idea, all I want is for them to have good homes and be properly Spayed/Neutered by professionals. I just don't know how to get them good homes where were at.

Sorry @ConfluenceStables I forgot about the differences in area culture. Where I’m at it’s not considered a Vet exclusive procedure, which is why I mentioned it. I apologize for saying too much.Thanked by 1ConfluenceStable
