I have a barn devoted to broodmares and one devoted to studs that I exclusively show and put up for public breeding. They’re mostly rank specials, but some I’m not currently using in my line, but may want to bring back in at some point.

I would not recommend it be your primary show string, but if there is something special about a mare or stallion, they lose out on the training bonus for being spayed/gelded, but it may be worth it to you depending on your plans for him/her.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a couple high pointed mare’s saved for being an embryo transplant mare. That mare/mares are preforming double duty, being both surrogate motheres, and showing for points. I try to have a few of those laying around.

Ya’ll are so ambitious! I wish I had the hbs around to use embryos.
