Introducing FOALS! Now in beta.
-
Foals have been added into the image generator. These still need a good deal of work and bug hunting but spotting them will be easier with more eyes.
->These foals use the same skin as the adult horses. That means when they grow up they keep their markings. This was super complicated to make happen and it is going to take some working with to make sure everything looks right.
->These foals scale so pony a 17 hand horse makes a bigger foal then a 15 hand horse which is bigger then a 13 hand etc etc.
->They automatically turn into adult looking horses at two.
->Tack won't work with them for obvious reasons. They will get their own tack options in the future.
->Artwork is also beta. Expect tweaks.
->When will these go to HJ2? As soon as I can get them over there.
Please post bugs and any oddities you see below. I expect lots of them. Links to the horse if possible please :)

No biggy, but tattoo placement. I imagine it's still on the agenda since ponies are still needing adjustment, so just putting it here so it's been noted.Go boldly, where no App has gone before!
-
I intentionally waited on tattoos knowing I was going to do this first. No reason to do the work twice.Post edited by Ammit at 2015-07-24 16:05:36Need to contact me? Read this first.

Awesome. No rush! The foals look great!Go boldly, where no App has gone before!

Cool! I often wondered if this would happen. Ah! I just rerolled one of my fillies! She's cute and gangly!
-
Wow! I was expecting this to take a longer. I created an embryo and implanted it and -- lo and behold, the foal looks like a cute foal. You are amazing Ammit. I am impressed.
-
Dun looks a little off at the booty, also these babies looks like they have partial ears and fuzzy face markings (or no nose hole)? It's hilarious because my instructor's gelding lost his ear tips to frostbite so they look identical lol

The foals are absolutely adorable! Thank you Ammit for continually coming up with wonderful new features for an already great game.
I did find a minor issue, since you want us to help spot them. I was just breeding some foals and admiring the way they scale and noticed that colts (at least the one I have gotten so far) seem to be missing their male parts.

They don't have male parts and most likely wont. They are not even close to as visible in real life on foals.Post edited by Ammit at 2015-07-24 18:13:30Need to contact me? Read this first.

*copied my post from facebook* love the new foals, and I am going to say this because I love this game and these horses so dont think I am bashing the art because I am not and I have no idea how far you are into foal process making, but in my opinion the neck is too long and too thin at the top part making the head appear tiny.
And there appears to be a small portion of the mane behind the ears that is missing, looks like a hole. http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3425227 -
Measurements where taken from real life foals for ours. On real life warmblood foals wither to poll is about the same distance as wither to point of hip as it is on this foal meaning the neck is the correct length and not to long.
Ear has been reported above :)Post edited by Ammit at 2015-07-24 18:30:47Need to contact me? Read this first.

Yes, the length of neck is right, its something else that is making it appear thin and longer than what it seems, optical illusion if you will. It's either the throat latch area or the size of the head that could use a bit of tweaking.
This edited pic is where the throat latch was changed very marginally and the head increased just a smidge.
The unedited pic for comparison.
And the missing part is behind the ears, not the ear tips. While this just may be a space from end of mane to the ears, it rather looks like a hole instead and the more colorful backgrounds pop behind the ears making the mane looks orange, green or blue.Post edited by starbrooke farm at 2015-07-24 19:07:21 -
I love them! They are soooo cute! Great work Ammit! :DWas Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Think! - It's not illegal yet. -
I think it's awesome, thanks Ellie! They are just adorable and it's cool to see foals being foal like. I think the size of the head could be the issue people are having. Many horses have a large looking head for the rest of their body as foals. The refined head is what makes the neck look long. However, that said warmblood foals tend to have a look exactly like the drawing. Anyone who doubts can google "Warmblood foal" and look at pics. They are all legs and neck with tiny heads.

They look so adorable. I agree, the foal colts really don't show their stuff in real life. So it makes sense to me that they aren't that visible in the foal design here. However, it does bother me a bit the foals look off center on the background.Post edited by Forestshadow at 2015-07-24 20:45:13

Speaking for myself, I like the position of the foals in the background. It gives them "room to grow."
It also may make very good programming sense to anchor the foal image to a location that will have at least one parameter of the art stable in the frame. Not that I know anything at all about programming at this level, of course. My only real life experience of web page design was proofreading the text for web pages. -
Yep it was an intentional choice not to center them. They look really crowded in if you center them.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I figured that out, I'll just have to get used to that lol.

Thanks, great job as usual :) They are so cute
-
I agree with some of the above comments about the head looking a bit off but overall they are just so darn cute. Once again Ammit has outdone herself =D>Merry Mount Farm ID# 219220

I suspect that the greenish-gray patches on this filly are a manifestation of her gray, but I thought I'd post it, just in case it isn't. It's kind of hard to see, since she's perlino. -
Yup, that's gray.
-
It's not though as that horse does not show those markings in the full size image.Need to contact me? Read this first.

The dun markings on the foals appears like a double wave on the rump.
Also editing to clarify the hole/missing part in mane. Arrow 1 is where color is missing below lineart. Arrow 2 where there is a gap that causes the background to bleed through and make the foals hair color appear different in that area.

I have seen the legs buckle outwards is that a bug?
-
Look at the pictures of foals on the FB thread Abbey, you'll see that same look. It's the norm for youngsters.
Ammit - There may be a coloring issue. Look on bays and buckskins with white legs. The far hind seems to have more dark edging to it than it should. I thought shadowing at first, but I'm not seeing it on all colors. This may be tied to het agouti status, as it doesn't seem to show on all bays/buckskins, and didn't show on the bays/buckskins I found with hom agouti status.
Two examples:

I still don't like the look of the ears, baby ears tend to be bigger. I'll grab some pics of the babies at my barn when I get home. They're KWPN and Hanovarians so they should match the proportions.
-
There is zero need. The art work is already getting tweaks and the ears where already changed in the source art. I just need time to get that out. :)Post edited by Ammit at 2015-07-27 15:46:43Need to contact me? Read this first.
