Any idea what he might bring if I sold him on the open market?Post edited by CalicoOaksStable at 2019-05-22 18:56:18Off Track Thoroughbreds Are My PASSION -
Maybe 3500/4k cause of his points.Thanked by 1CalicoOaksStable

I don’t notice any special characteristic about this stud to increase his value significantly (no rare genes, fairly low PT, not a proven sire, regular foundation so would be C papered); perhaps just his lifetime expected payout, or slightly less to give the buyer incentive to purchase?Post edited by LenasHollywood at 2019-05-22 18:41:49Thanked by 1CalicoOaksStable

I'm considering selling because I'm not especially fond of his color. I prefer bays. Crazy, I know, but it is just one of my quirks. I am, I think getting ready to thin my herd and sell off everything not a warmblood and not a bay. Could use some advice if anyone is game. I am a fairly new player.Post edited by CalicoOaksStable at 2019-05-22 18:57:20Off Track Thoroughbreds Are My PASSION

Hey Calico!
As a new player, you should really focus on keeping any horses with points. The more points you have, the more your daily show bonus will pay out. It's the key to making your stable sustainable long-term. :)
As far as breeding, there are no rules so you can breed for whatever you like! If you love Bay Warmbloods, stick with that for now. Since you have the color in mind, I would aim for breeding the highest quality you can. Most of us prefer even bred horses (breeding a foundation to a foundation, a second generation to a second, and so on), but again, it's not a rule and you can ultimately breed for whatever you like.
Some people just breed for color, others for high PT's. Me personally, I have several lines going but I've been playing for several real years. I focus primarily on flaxen liver chestnuts with white patterns (Kit M, W8, W10, W3, Sb2 mostly), Silver Black Chinchillas, Silver Black Kit M, and a Fantasy line with pretty much as many genes as I can get into it. I also breed evenly and make sure everything passes Strict Breeding Advice and tests superior to sire (with *very* few exceptions).
Ultimately, have fun! If you get tired of breeding plain Bays, you could try for wild bays or bay with a certain white pattern or splash. Or you may find you change your mind entirely and start breeding for something else!
I know this post is a bit all over, but I hope it helps a little bit. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. :) -
I am only playing at the basic level and wish they had more for us to besides showing our horses. I don't show in real life and find it incredibly boring. If you look at my horses you will see even the "consistent" ones are placing all over the place.

As long as you are training them every week and they are placing above last place then they are adding to your daily bonus.
I always suggest new players create yearlings with any of the show horse herd helpers (exceptional show horse, great show horse etc) or the perfect or exceptional herd helpers. Run them through breeding advice (free) only and sell them to other players to increase your bank balance (I always added $500 to the create price for every 100 points the horse held). At the end of the week auction any that have been sitting on the sales board for more than a few days. To keep under the 20,000 point cap on creating pointed horses.
This gives you a bit more hands on time than just clicking a button to train or enter your horses and you can possibly win the lotto by creating.
Buy a few of the biggest barns you can afford and once you have a nice nest egg start to keep the higher pointed horses, alter them and show them. Then start collecting your breeding horses.
You can also take the time to figure out the search page as it can be an invaluable tool once your barn gets bigger. I rarely look through my barns to find a horse (although my barns are usually sorted by generations) I use the search constantly.
