Dark Gold Champagne
-
I fell in love with a Gold Champagne with three darkening alleles and want to breed my own.
I just bought
BA1 GC Better Spicy
And have a few champagne mares.
TG1 GC Sparkling Cider
IM2 GC Perfect Impulse
TG1 GC Scrubbing Delilah
TG1 GC Moonlit Scrub
TG GC Scrubby Scrubby
and
TG GC CR Out with a Bang
A range of ages and generations, for sure.
The plan, other than buying a second Gold Champagne stud, is to initially breed for Red and for Champagne. My mares are a mix of Amber, Silver and Gold Champagne colors. Crosses to Gold Studs only will increase the chances of Gold and homozygous Champagne in the line.
My initial stud is Gold Champagne with homozygous sooty, any studs I breed out to or purchase will also have those genes. Three of my mares are Homozygous Sooty, two are Heterozygous, and one is homozygous S. Which means initially half will be 50/50 split between heterozygous sooty and Homozygous sooty and half the foals guaranteed to be homozygous sooty.
As I get good Gold Champagne fillies, cross them to dark Liver studs from my Chocolate Rhythm line. That line started with Rhythm of Four, Dark Chocolate and some Hopeful Hygge mares with a goal of developing quality Liver Chestnut, Chocolate Palomino and probably some dark Cremello color horses. The darker Liver Chestnut horses are more likely to be homozygous sooty.
I feel this is a reasonable and logical approach to developing a line with the color goal I have.Post edited by TimidGoddess at 2019-04-11 14:53:29 -
So...I've tried through all the gold champagne mares I had left to get you a 2gen colt. It didn't work :)) the only ones I got that passed didn't pick up their dams champagne.

If you want to GMT them, I'll gladly give you one.Post edited by bluchrystals at 2019-04-11 20:17:42Thanked by 1TimidGoddess -
I have these boys. If you're interested in any of them, let me know :)
Atticus Freckle
S+ and Ssty, nd1 and sb2
Rockin ghost
Het for snowflake
Gold n satin
1 copy of pearl
Thanked by 1TimidGoddess -
I bought this fellow yesterday after the auction.
DH1 GC Framed by a Ghost -
TG3 GC Royal Ghost
My first champagne line foal of the year. A bit bummed he is heterozygous for Champagne, but nice PT score for a 3rd gen, and heterozygous for sooty. -
I love that dark color between his gold coat and his almost white tail.
-
I have 3 2nd gen mares in my gold champagne breeding program:
TE2 GC Perfectly Royal
TE2 GC Adams Family
TG2 GC Sparkling Cider
And two stallions
DH2 GC Framed by a Ghost
BA2 GC Better Spicy
What would you recommend as far as which stallion to breed to each mare?Post edited by TimidGoddess at 2019-05-03 13:17:43 -
Are you wanting all white or majority white horses? Or mostly gold?
-
I am focusing on the Good Champagne version of Liver Chestnut, but kinda like some white.
-
Want him? He carries pearl.
B About Time -
TG4 GC Golden Feathers
TG3 GC Royal Ghost
Is the difference just that one is heterozygous for sooty and the other is homozygous?
Or did Feathers get a copy of DP from
JQ3 CR Chicken Livers -
@TimidGoddess Gold Feathers is stunning! :X Gold champagne is definitely my favorite variant.Thanked by 1TimidGoddess
-
Two new foals this year,
TG3 GC PRL Ghostly Cider
and
TG3 GC AP Ghost Flowers
Ghost flowers is effectively a Cremello appaloosa. Just how light would that filly be without a single copy of sooty, I wonder?
-
Sorry that I never got back to you, @TimidGoddess. Golden Feathers looks like she picked up a copy of DP from her Dam to me. To be sure you could try to use a GMT on her in the lab. If she has DP the system will say there's an error adding it. If she doesn't it will use one GMT, but then you'll know for sure she does :DPost edited by bluchrystals at 2019-06-09 14:50:55

I don't spend $$$ on this and don't have the hb's to afford gen mods. Thanks for the info.
-
If you get a sea pony or a candy pony, it's a free gene mod token, no real money spent.
-
Using hb's to create horses, assuming I got one at 150 horses (1 in 150), I would spend 375,000 hb's which is enough to 30 IV's.
Candy ponies are even rarer than sea ponies are at the moment. I might have the $$$ someday, but that day is probably far off.
If I just happen to get a candy or sea pony, I might do that, but I just don't see it happening. -
I create horses and try to get ones that were useful to my breeding programs and whatever doesn't fit goes into Auction so I get my money back that I put into creating a horse since whatever doesn't sell goes back to the game for 2500hb.
-
I can create 100 horses in a day and I'll probably sell back 99% of them each auction
-
I have this 2nd gen girl you can have for 2500 if you want. She is not exactly what you are looking for but she has Sooty+ and also carries TE1 and snowflake.
