KP confusion

    I just got my 1st confirmed KP baby purely on accident, but now I'm a little confused. Both parents only have 1 kit gene and don't look to be carriers till a few gens back. I'm assuming both would be het? Obviously KP is new to me so I don't understand it at all. Im greatful for any help and explinations. This is my KP baby.

    KP shows up when there's 2 kit genes and 2 Kit Promotor mutations so your baby was lucky in the fact that mom and dad were carriers and had at least 1 kit gene

    Ok i think i get it. My baby is a wild hair, lol. So maybe a 25% chance of it happening again with this cross? Trying to figure this all out cause I absolutely love how she looks with the super minimal color and it faded on her booty, lol.

    It's a one in sixteen chance, so 6.25%
    However if both parents are het kit promoter, there's a 75% their foals will inherit at least one kp (25% chance of hom), so you could definitely use them to breed for it. Personally I'd cross them each with horses that are hom for kp and have two kit genes though, to up your odds.

    Natalya, thanks for mathing it for me. I don't math so good today lol. This baby was a surprise but I love how she looks so was kinda looking on an off chance repeat. Thanks for the help on how to get more KP with my herd. Though I know I'm now going to redesign my lines for a S+, W8/Sb, KP line. Lots of ponies going up for sale shortly now lol.

    Yes, definitely planning on staying with warmbloods. Ive just gotten a basic upgrade, so im still not really sure on the eggs/embryos thing. So much to learn on here, lol. Love it though. You are so kind, truly.

    I'm not sure either, I have premium but this is the first season I've tried using eggs! And idk what the limits are on basic.

    I'm gonna flush this girl eventually, and of you're interested we'll figure out how to get you one. She's kp and s+
