I've read where a few people sort their show horses by 'best showing' and sell the others. How do you sort them? How do you use that criteria? I see where you can sort using that option, but I'm not understanding how that allows you to pick the best ones.

That's not a criterion I have used before, so I had to look hard to even find it in the Advanced Sort List. *G*

My first glance at the top of the search page for my own stable based on that "test" had me puzzled. Nothing in the visible information on the search results stood out as a meaningful pattern. However, as I look at each horse individually a pattern begins to emerge.

Horse 1: a 10 year old spayed mare, not leveled off yet; showing at 8 National; PT score 12.50; 415 points; Daily Pay Out 44 hbs; Current Lifetime Payout 9944 hb's.

Horse 2: a 7 year old spayed mare, not leveled off yet; showing at 6 Regional; PT score 10.10; 236 points; Daily Pay Out 25 hbs; Current Lifetime Payout 7900 hb's.

Horse 3: a 4 year old spayed mare, not leveled off yet; showing at 5 Local; PT score 11.80; 174 points; Daily Pay Out 19 hbs; Current Lifetime Payout 7752 hb's.

Without looking any further, I deduce that this sort lines the horses up based on their Current Lifetime Payout. So, I think, you could use it to go to the end of the list of horses and auction off the ones on the low end of this "totem pole" as being less likely to add to your stable's financial security in the long run.

I'd have to repeat this search maybe twice a month and keep track of the results to see if the order of horse's changed, but this is my best guess at this time.

That's odd. I just checked mine and their lifetime payouts are all over the board. My list doesn't start with the highest payout. It starts medium goes high then back to medium.

I've been wondering about this myself. My 'best showing' horses are all over the place as well, a couple on page one are foals that have hardly been shown (and one only has 0.5 points).

Mine are also all over the place. My top horse is a 10.40 inconsistent 3yo gelding. He's placed 3/8 and 1/8 in his last two shows at 3N and has 72 points with 189 winnings this year. My second horse is a leveled off 12.1 Inconsistent 8yo gelding. He's placed 4/15 and 13/15 at 7N and has 1212 points with 469 winnings this year.
