Coloring Contest
-
So, with several people talking about coloring in private chats quite often, and getting three liver stallions today in my DHH....
COLORING CONTEST!
I provide the lineart to be colored, it is one of my own from a few years back. Nothing fancy, a horse running with a bit of grass.
You may color it digitally if you have the means, or print it out, color it in whatever medium you choose and take a picture.
The overall winner (I will have several people judging on a points system) will take home this stallion, he is a 13.3hh Liver Chestnut: http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3442859
Runner Ups will receive a few straws to my 13.2hh Liver Chestnut stallions that I created today.
I will end this contest on....August 1st at rollover. Results will be posted by August 4th at the latest. -

Cool idea, Compass!

What a nice and novel idea! I've saved the picture and will probably print it out to be painted. Thanks Compass Point.

Love the idea, but where is the picture?

It's posted above in the second post on this thread. :)Post edited by Gael4ce at 2015-07-23 09:31:33

I will have the results posted by this coming Friday evening. Life got a bit in the way--in addition to switching my shift at work (I now work 11pm-9am 4 days a week), my family is going through the loss of my cousin Michael, who passed away August 1st.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. :(
Please take your time with the contest. -
I am sorry for your loss. :(

the winner has been contacted :)
If you did not receive a PM from me, shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with some straws (I have two boys that I had created, one is staying untouched, the other I'm GMTing a bit, so straws sent out from him might be later) -
Wow! Those are all so beautiful! SandyCreek, did you use water color?Craven Hill - 86081
Galway Stallions - 80319 -
I used watercolor pencils on the horse and watercolor for the sky and the shadow/grass under the horse.

While I can't use water color to save my life (just don't have the knack, so I stick with oils lol), I just love the look of it. :)Craven Hill - 86081

Thank you. For myself, I started out working with watercolors, since that was what I had on hand, about six years ago, and I've sort of been reading and experimenting and developing my own ways of handling them ever since. I don't do smooth, even washes very well, but I've found that sponges make good tools for leafy vegetation and lifting color to create clouds, among other things.
The watercolor pencils are something new for me, this year, but I've been enjoying trying them out. Since I couldn't copy the horse onto watercolor paper (It wouldn't fit through my printer), I decided, since they need less water, that the pencils would do the trick on copier paper, and they did.
