Terrible Luck!

Soooo Of course the One horse I sink all my money into is horrible. Why wouldn’t he be? My first ever GMT project was a bust. Next time. I’m not gonna be so impatient and wait to put a breeding boast on him. Anyway I got like. 3 intact babies out of the 20 or so I bred
Here’s my waste of money lol

How do you figure he's a bust? His foals look about like what I would expect from a regular C or perfect foundation bred to mares without a pasture bonus. I think he needs to see more mares to get a better idea of what he can do. :) (Unless you're thinking about boosting, of course.) He's a stunning stallion, one of the prettiest onyxes I've seen posted.ID 40045

He’s still beautiful though, makes some really cute show ponies!

He isn’t horrible he just might need more planning on your part for more intact offspring. Besides sometimes we just have a bad luck and almost everything bred on that day (or time) is spelled. When I’m having bad luck I sign off, or do something else for awhile and quit breeding horses.
I looked through the mom’s of all of his foals and I have a couple suggestions on how to get more intact offspring.
1. I second Ultraviolet’s suggestion, mare’s with a pasture bonus automatically throw better foals that have a much better chance of passing BA. (I don’t have SBA so I have no opinion there) The pasture is everyone’s best friend.
2. A lot of the mom’s are Exceptional producing mares (Red papered). Now they are great when breeding to Exceptional Producing studs, but not so nice when breeding to a C papered stallion or Perfect Foundation. That would account for why a good number of foals didn’t pass. They can pass, it’s a lot harder to get, but the few foals that do pass are pretty good.
Personally I’d get a majority of Perfect Foundation mare’s throw them in the pasture for 30 days, and then breed them to him.Post edited by Silverstar at 2019-07-03 22:17:13 -
I don't think he's a bust :-??
For a C papered perfect foundation stallion breeding to red papered mares not in pastures, I think he did well! I have bred my hidden gates rank special mare so many times to outside stallions with 95% being snipped and only 1 of 4 of her colts comparing superior to his sire! The other 3 are only as good as!

Yeah just to second what everyone else has been saying, this really isn't bad.
Just for comparison this season I've bred 55 foals (matching papers) and am only keeping 2 intact. Now, with that said I'm pretty strict with spelding so there were several more that passed SBA but who didn't paper higher than parents or were the wrong size/color. I wait for pasture breeding to expect any numbers of high quality.
Hopefully this helps, after all you've been more successful than me with half of the breedings.ID: 247225

5 out of 20 foals intact seems more like good luck to me, when you are not using pastures, and using many mares that are higher quality than the boy.ID 195859

I have to agree, he's not a bust. A pasture would be your best friend.

I learned a lot from this thread! Thanks every one! Blaze, I think your stud is gorgeous! I had no idea that pastures affected the quality of foals. Next season, I'll be more patient. Lol!

Believe me, Patience is hard! Lol. I have a liver Pasture right now that I am trying to not breed because I want the mares to get the highest bonus they can. Then I will swap them out. I think my next pasture project will be Liver KitM - possibly some Onyx. But I am not sure yet. It takes a lot of patience with the pasture to wait it out.Player ID #239177. I have at least 1 pasture for every generation.

Ive been having awful luck too. If its not a chestnut i get out of colorful parents , i get high pt scores and they fail sba and get snipped. And all the low pt scores somehow dont.
-
I completely forgot they got a pasture bonus. I stoped playing for a while and this is my first season back. I’ll get the hang of it again soon.
