Value of pointed creates?
-
What is the value of pointed foundation horses?
-
All horses have an expected lifetime payout that shows you how much money they will make you over their lifetime. However, this does not consider that horse gaining more points which it most likely will. As a horse trains and shows and therefore earns more points, the payout increases
So the answer you are looking for is it varies. You can probably get a bit more than create price for most pointed creates. i think it is pretty common for created with 500-900 points be put up for a forum auction where they can go for 20-100k depending on point, age, and create type. -
Ok thank you so much @TreeFern

This could be just me, so anybody else feel free to chime in, but I'm not usually willing to sell a horse with points for less than their expected lifetime payout, since I'm 'losing' at least that much by selling them. But I also can't create horses with points anymore, I have to buy them or raise them and earn the points. I know a lot of new players have been creating a bunch and then selling them for about half their lifetime payout so they can create more and making quite a profit that way.Spiderweb Stables

That payout is a good base amount to get an idea of value, but I am not willing to pay that much just based on the points simply because of the time value of money - the person buying has to wait several months to get that total payout, while the seller gets one lump sum payment she wouldn’t have if she’d kept the horse and received the payout herself. I think of it as interest on a loan as an analogy.Post edited by LenasHollywood at 2019-07-11 11:36:24

@LenasHollywood - point, and I should probably clarify - I rarely buy them for that amount, I usually try to find those newer folks who are selling them for about half that. I just won't part with any of the ones I do have for less than that because I can't create more. I'm hoarding them, lol, so it takes more to get me to part with one. I'm not sure if other players with more total points feel that way or not, but that's where I'm at.Spiderweb Stables

I produce far to many show foals of my own to need to buy pointed creates but if I do buy I would be quite willing to spend at least half if not all the pointed create horses lifetime payout price (as long as they are 1-5 years old).
Because it’s completely possible for that create to go out and double or triple (or more) their points and pay me back more.
This game has always been a long term strategy game and nowadays people are much too used to instant gratification. I’ve seen it enough times that a little patience pays so I don’t mind the wait and my bank account and show horses show me everyday that patience pays by my show bonus.Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genesThanked by 1ConfluenceStable -
I figure any additional points they earn are the same as what a zero point foundation would earn, so there is only the expected lifetime payout equivalent of future value for the create points in my mind.
