How many strands of water color do I need for it to show up on a horse? I might have some extra money to add a strand or two (hopefully, I've been waiting for watercolor to come around again) but would like to know how it works more before buying it!
If I add one strand of water color what are the chances his foal will get water color if the mare does not carry it?
If I add two whats the chances?
I'm no gene expert and if I spend money on a gene (one I really love albeit) I really would love to know all about it!

Just one!

It's dominant, so if you add one copy to a stallion, and breed to a non-watercolor mare, the foal has a 50/50 chance of being watercolor.

If you add two copies, all his foals will have watercolor.

@SherwoodStables Thank you! Now the choice is to buy one, or go all the way and buy 2 hmm...Does 2 strans make the color more vibrant at all or change anything else except all his foals having it?

Nope, it looks the same with one or two. Darker base coats make darker, richer watercolors and lighter coats make pastels and such

I just put one copy on my guy he's Liver and Onyx as well I think the Onyx may be why some of the foals are a really beautiful pastel color :x these are just a few examples lol
