The foal died?
-
I created an embryo of my best mare with a straw I bought last breeding year and implanted it to my surrogate horse. I got this message: "This foal was homozygous for Lethal White Overo Syndrome and died shortly after birth. You can not rebreed the mare again this year."
What does this mean? Is it something wrong with my mare or does this happen sometimes?HJ1#215952
I'm from Norway, so my english isn't flawless, but I try my very best! -
It means the baby was homozygous for the frame gene. If both parents have frame, and the baby gets frame from both, then IRL, it would be born solid white and missing part of it's digestive tract. Said foals die within a few days.
In the game, they just "die" at birth.
You can avoid this by not breeding two frames together.
Certain combos of white have the same problem.
There's a list of all the lethal genetic combos in the files of the facebook group. :)Thanked by 1MelenasDeLasOlas -
I see.. Oh I wish I had known! I had really looked forward to get a good frame out of the two of them, I won't do that again :-$
Thank you very much!HJ1#215952

Even knowing which combinations have a chance of a lethal outcome, I still manage to accidentally lose a couple of pixels to that. Every year. *sigh*

I have yet to lose any pixel foals to that but my mare's breeders lost their foal before my girl was born to that. Had a tiny spot of brown on it's hip and they were just hoping it was going to make it. Three days and then the colt died. :(206889
