GMT Question
  • I just noticed that the cost of tokens on some genes went up. Is that a bug?

Splash had always been 1 GMT in the past. Now it is 2 GMTs.
Tobiano had always been 1 GMT in the past. Now it is 2.
Same thing with Appaloosa, Rabicano, Frame.

If that is not a bug, then I will be limited to hoping that I get a rank special DHH that has those genes.

It's really hard on a limited budget.

I breed dun splashes as my main color in my lines. Now I may have to rethink everything.
  • Yeah, and I didn't see any announcements on costs going up in the GMT lab. I checked all 5 pages.
  • They went up a couple of months ago.

  • Seems to me that silver, champagne, sabino, white 1&2, splash, appaloosa, rabicano and frame have all increased to 2 GMT. Splash 2 has been added at 4 GMT, and pearl has been decreased from 4 GMT to 2 (though this happened a while ago and I do remember that announcement).

I know that Ammit has put a ton of work into silver, champagne, and appaloosa, so it makes sense that those costs would have increased. My guess is that the other genes impacted either have been tweaked already or are on the list of updates to come. It may also be a result of GMT tokens being offered for sale in the IV manager.

  • Hmmm. I will have to think on this.

Like I said, I breed for dun splashes. I just can't justify spending 4 GMTs on two genes when I can spend 4 GMTs on 4 other genes. For me, it's getting the most out of what I can afford to spend.

I may have to wait until the end of the month to see if I have an extra 20 dollars left in my budget. If I can't afford, then I may have to sell the only intact black chestnut stallion I've ever gotten so far from a DHH.

Will have to wait and see.

  • That's what I use stallions for. Great idea in theory, but doesn't work for me. As far as I know there isn't a DHH that has dark red dun splash. I just find it far more practical if I have stallions with the genes because I can use 1 stallion on up to 50 mares. Not that I actually use up all the available live covers, but you get the idea.
  • You don't need to start with what you want as a final result. You can start with a normal chestnut and one dark one, get yourself a dark chestnut baby, cross that out on a red dun, get a dark red dun....then add the splash.

I've morphed a few lines like that, I actually enjoy the challenge and the planning. :)
  • It's something that I'll have to consider.
