Why you breed what you breed..
-
Looking through Instagram tonight, I came across my favorite horse page that made me fall in love with Sabino in the first place.. (I'll give a gaurenteed straw to whoever can correctly guess who it may be :D )
Which has me wondering... What influence did you have to breed for what you do? -
I started breeding my line based on my own mare and her siblings’ coloring, and added a couple little bits in because I like the way they look in game. My girl is red dun and has palomino dun siblings. The cremello just makes sense to keep when trying to breed palomino, and liver and splash just look cool!

I have grown up with Appaloosas, I myself used to breed Colorado Rangers and now just help my sister and mom with their farm. My first horse was a black leopard Appy gelding that my grandfather bought from my uncle because "we had a connection". I didn't realize it at the time, but the gelding was a year old, hadn't been haulter broke or really touched and I in my ten year old wisdom didn't know that talked him into the haulter and a brushing and leading around. Registered name was Okanagan Snip and he was always a handful. Horse could buck ... and would, did not like anyone else riding him and would regularly toss them but me. Our only really serious accident (and the only time he ever tossed me) was running over a hornets nest and that ended badly, he got stung pretty bad and I ended up under his hooves ...
Hence my lines of black appies both in satin and in snowflake. -
On thus account I breed black and blue roan tobianos. I have always dreamed of owning a Gypsy Vanner horse so I tried to create that look with my pixel ponies. :D

I’ve always admired Appaloosa colouring, and the realistic genetics and all the variations makes breeding them on the game super fun! Sometimes breeding my solid colour lines feels a little boring because of it. Lol

Once upon a time a long time ago way before we even had horse head images we had paint chips. Little squares that represented the colour of our hajinc (hunt and jump inc) horses. I started to breed for the bluest blue and started breeding for grullos because they were a real pretty shade of blue. Eventually we got horse heads and full body portraits and I fell in love with the steely grey of the grullos and continued breeding for them to this day probably close to 9 years breeding one colour nowBreeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes

I breed livers/chocolates because I love the color! How could you not?!

I also have bred gold champagne leopard Appys, but that is going to be changed to a herd of nacre/wrong warp/watercolor. -
I breed "everything and the kitchen sink" which is basically most/all (no champagne, I don't drink) realistic genes in game. I just like to throw everything in a blender and see what I get. I am partial to sooty/darker base colors (bay, buckskin, chestnut). W2 has always been my favorite, but I'm starting to cycle through the white genes and try to get a little bit of everything now that not many genes are black and white lethal.
I think it started when I first played the game and the "Rich dark bay dun roan" was the sought after color because it made corn, I wanted everything BAY AND DUN AND ROAN!!! And then the white genes and rabicano and tobiano started rolling out and I had to collect them all..... and then I stopped paying attention to colors in lines. And I ended up with serious rainbows of color. I just like throwing pairs together and getting something completely different than what I expected, then analyzing the genes and seeing how the probability shakes down to getting that match. Ahhhhhhh the rush.
