Can someone explain to me how you stop yourself from spending all of your hbs? I feel like I have so many different projects going on right now that all of my hbs are immediately being converted to creates in search of candy ponies, breeding, or IVs :))
I have a pretty good handle on making enough hb to get by, but I seriously need to work on calming down my spending.:-\"

I definitely understand the frustration. I find it easiest to focus on one line at a time. Maybe you can try to only work on one line per breeding season so you don’t get overwhelmed.Craven Hill - 86081

I won't go below 1mil is how I restrain myself.. if something puts me below that, I just won't do itPost edited by LEAcres at 2019-10-05 11:18:31

@GallawayStallions, Hm that's definitely a good idea! Right now my main conflict is trying to save for GMTs and barns so having less breeding stock filling up my stalls wouldn't hurt :)
I'll be making a good chunk of money by tomorrow between auction, weekly pay, and showing bonus, but right now I'm toast!ID: 247225

@Bambi, Oh wow, I usually try to stay above 250k but my quest for larger barns has really hindered that goal :)) I can't imagine having the patience to save up to 1mil, but I know setting a standard like that is something I need to do.ID: 247225

I have almost 400,000 and now I’m down to 89,000. Lol
I’ll be back up above 200,000 after the auction runs, though. Then I’ll spend it all back down again. Lol -
A 25,000 hb infusion only costs $3.25. Just sayin'! :-\"

Fill your barns with show ponies. When you create foundations and some get snipped, toss them in a show barn and set it up for weekly showing. Keep all of your snipped foals too. I would definitely consider decreasing your breeding stock a bit to try and make room for more show ponies.
I’ve been away for several years, but I used to have a nice show string in my other stable. I built it up over time and it really paid off.
Feel free to PM me anytime you have a question. :)Craven Hill - 86081

@paradoxphoenix, that's usually about where my cycle is, I just got too excited with all of the fun October events :))
@Confluence Oh I would, but I've already used up my monthly game budget :')
@GallawayStallions Thank you so much! I'm constantly trimming away at my breeders but its so darn hard! I'm actually pretty happy with where my payout is at the moment, I just can't seem to stop myself from spending it all :PID: 247225

Tack up all the ponies you currently have.
Build a budget. I used to have a spreadsheet that listed all of my goals and how much money they would take to reach and then it also calculated the money in the bank, weekly pay and saved up IV’s and it told me how many weeks and days it would take to reach my goal (now o would add daily show bonus). This accomplished 2 things as it taught me how to make a spreadsheet and have it give me the results I wanted to see and 2 when I subtracted money from my bank balance it instantly told me how much time it set me back.Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
Do you have more than one account?
I spend 1 day a week on each account and do not log into any others if it is not their day, unless I am rolling through for special HH's only.
Then once I week I go through all accounts and do any organizing/auction entering/ect.
That way my efforts are spread out over different breeding goals and accounts and it's a bit easier to restrain myself from going all out on one line.
I am new though, probably not the best advice haha. -
I don't I go into the negative at the start of every breeding season; usually work my way back up to about 50k hm or so by the end of the month then do it all over again lol
-
What I do to keep myself from spending is giving myself different goals, and limits.
I’ve made a limite on the amount of mares and stallions I can keep. Right now my mares are limited to the primary barn, a 120 stall barn and my pasture. If they get above that number I will start culling. My stallions have a 30 stall barn. I won’t buy another barn for my mares until I reach 4g. I have no limits on show barns, right now I have 225 breeding horses, and 2225 show horses.
This is a Monthly breeding cost formula I figured out awhile ago and posted on the other form. It’s a little outdated but it helps me keep things in perspective.

Wow @Silverstar that's a 1:9.8 ratio! Almost exactly what I want, 1:10. Impressive I must say. And I maybe a little bit jealous lol.
-
Ha yeah I'm gonna make use of that thread. I went from 600k to 13k overnight :-(( But I got lots of pretty babies!
-
I do the same as Bambi and avoid going below $1mill if I can. :)
-
Thank you @Wolvevenfrost. I feel like I should clarify, those numbers are actually from my BlaxkDiamond account on server 2. My Silverstar account is nowhere near that well managed. It seems like it happened overnight once I bought a 1,000 stall barn.
-
@Silverstar still, either way that's impressive!
I just did some culling for my intacts. I snipped over 150! So instead of being at a 1:3 I'm at a 1:7! Yaaaay!♥️♥️ I now have 1108 snips and 648 intacts. And that's only going through two 120 barns for my mares! I still yet to have to go through my stallions (90 stall) and my 7 (30 stall) barns for foals/ foals that grew up. But, I'm very pleased so far! -
I have no restraint when it comes to this game lol. These sales are too good. As far as hbs, I do try to stay above 1 mil. I have cut down on ET breedings and outside straws to stay on budget this year.
-
... self restraint..? What’s that? =))Licensed for Onyx, Watercolor, Plaid, Mushroom, Splash M, Phantom Autumn, Ice 4, Ice 16, and Chinchilla - ID: 256300
-
@Humboldt, same! I’ve cut down significantly on ET breedings. I’m hoping to tackle a handful of them later this season, but I try to alternate focus each season. I haven’t had time to breed all of my mares the past few, but I only have 3 pastures lol
-
I have 7406 show horses and 1799 breeding horses (although there’s a group going to the auction and about 380 mares and 390 colts that need comp tested so I’ll be up another 400 show horses at least)
I don’t buy much outside blood. My own herd keeps me busy and the show horses keep my bank relatively full (other than when I comparison test all my mares within a month)Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
I tell myself not to go below 1mil. I'm still working on my show string and I'm beginning to be a bit harder on my breeding standards. I'm pretty happy with how it's been going, I can afford to breed all of my mares (using straws and my in-house stallions both). Once I reach a better show stock I'm going to go through all of my horses and comparison test them, I rarely do it but I'd love to be able to do it with all my horses to start getting better quality horses!
I keep about half of the foals I get, some of them are too pretty to snip so I send to the auction and let others enjoy them. My show herd I try to keep all their PT above 10 unless they're foundations and exceptional show horses. My goal for the end of the year is a 6k daily payout. not nearly enough as I'd like but I JUST started focusing more on my show horses so I think 6k is reasonable since I started with about 400hb a payout about 4 months ago! Thanks to Ammit, the 1k pointed horses have really helped!
I also try not to buy many outside blood. There are a FEW accounts I just can't help myself because they have beautiful horses (i'm talking about bluchrystals and Jessj mostly :)) ) I recently bought Splash M and I'm limiting myself to just a few straws a season, same with watercolor -
When mare comparison came in I ended up with 4hb's after testing everybody and trying to enter shows.HJ1 - 30304

Auction Auction Auction! Anything that’s not perfect (maybe the occasional your so bad it’s cute) goes into the auction. I used to sell all sniped pasture babies. (Keeping the next few to gain some more points) Any creates that weren’t candy or wouldn’t fit any lines. I have a 215 barn (or whatever it is) dedicates to auction only. If they don’t make the cut. They sit in the auction barn till it’s full or I need some cash.
At about 600,000 hbs was at a million. Then I splurged on my perfect stud.
