In real life, I raise show dogs. I microchip each puppy I sell, and register them, so if a dog is ever found, I can help it get home. A dog I bred that lives several states away did get lost and was taken to animal control. She was found 1.5 hours from her home. With fast work I was able to get the dog reunited with her family. I want to celebrate the joy I am feeling that she is now safe, I am raffling a 2nd generation Ice 5 colt. Just comment with your ID. Deadline is Saturday at 11:50 pm game time. Winner will be chosen on Sunday 12/6/15.
Remember: Please microchip your pets and REGISTER the chip! Microchips work!

Glad the dog is safe! I have a friend who rescues and rehabilitates cats and had the same situation happen this week. Microchipping is so important!

I'm very happy to hear the pup was found safe and was able to be reunited with her owners so quickly!! Both of my babies are also micro-chipped with the chips registered to a monitoring company. And I pray that I will not EVER have to use it!
Thank you for your generosity!

So glad they were reunited. That is such a scary ordeal. I am so glad you microchip your babies. I do that with our yorkies too. :)
Thank you.Thanked by 1Visions -
I am happy that the pup was found. Do they have to put the pet under to microchip?Thanked by 1Visions

Wonderful news! All ours are microchipped, dogs, cats and horses.
My ID is 76088 :)
Also Abbey nope they don't have to sedate, just use a bigger needle and into the scruff of the neck on a dog and cat or side of the neck on a horsePlayer ID 76088

That's fantastic to hear! I've had my pup registered since she was young and learned she could jump a 4ft fence. Also scared herself too bad to go anywhere, but still.Thanked by 1Visions -
That is an awesome story Visions!
We have 2 dogs, 3 cats and a few horses microchipped! Only cause I haven't organised a brand to do the horses yet, and some carry their breeders brand already :)

That's awesome! What a responsible breeder you are :)
I lost my cat last year and sadly, his microchip details were not up to date. I can't help but think that I might have him home now if I had been more diligent. So now, all four of my beasties (cat, dog, two horses) have microchips with up to date details! Not going through that heartbreak again if I can help it!Thanked by 1Visions -

I am glad the story had a happy ending, I wish all lost pet stories had happy endings -
It's always good to hear the happy endings. Often we don't realize how very lucky pets are that end up in a situation where there is an opportunity to be scanned for a microchip when they wander away from home. Just last night the property owners where I keep my horses lost their Havanese when he got out of the yard and was hit by a passing car just as I pulled up. It sucked to have to knock on their door and tell them their dog was just outside their gate, laying on the shoulder of the road. It's a very low traffic, rural street so I can't imagine how many near misses a dog that is over an hour away from home might have had.
3 of my 4 equines have microchips but none of the vets I've had out are able to locate or read them so I don't have alot of confidence in them in horses. But I know from multitudes of friends and family that have had pets returned to them that they work for cats and dogs.

So happy that baby is safe and sound! My oldest boy got separated from me when I worked at horse rides on the beach while I have no doubts he would have made it to the corral if left alone I'm so glad he had a microchip because he was taken to the humane society by a nice person. They definitely do work!

My horse is microchipped.
Glad your puppy got home and well done for being a responsible breeder.Thanked by 1Visions -
It must have been a relief to find her.
I have one story to tell about chipping, myself. The microchip on my mother's older dog somehow disappeared (it was there after the chipping, but was nowhere to be found when a vet wanted to check the chip some time later (months, maybe years, I cannot remember), when the dog was being vaccined). So checking that the chip is still there and in working order is also a good thing to do from time to time... Will help big time if the animal disappears for one reason or the other.

The uk now states all horses should be microchipped to!
I think its a great idea, you know your beloved pet will make it home, just remember folks update contact details as soon as they change!! :)Thanked by 1Visions -

That is great!! All of ours are chipped and registered. I hope to never have to have it used, but I feel so much better knowing if they're scanned they can be reunited with us!

You are awesome, so glad this worked out for you and because of what you taught me all three of my hounds are chipped. Hounds tend to get away, and even out in the middle of butt nowhere stuff happens, so we got them all chipped, even our two rescues :)Thanked by 1Visions -
So happy the dog was found and is now safely with her family! I am certainly considering micro chipping my puppy. I can tell she is going to be a handful and worry about her escaping in the area where I live. You just never know when they will get loose or chase after something.
