I'm On A Brindle Hunt!
-
I am looking for brindles, any kind, foundation or lined. My preference is high quality brindles that I can use in my breeding programs, but I will take others. I may even take gelded or spayed, if they're priced well and really pretty. I prefer intact and high quality, but I will consider pretty much anything "stripey." Thanks for your time!Post edited by AppleRunStables at 2015-12-09 17:00:52

If you are wanting for breeding--they should at least have their mare/stallion and showing aptitude testing done. That way you get breeding worthy animals and don't have to worry about accidentally running through testing and getting snipped.Thanked by 1AppleRunStables

I have an auction going on right now on the forum for a BBTS brindle stallion if you look down the pageThanked by 1AppleRunStables

If the horse can't pass the basic quality tests, they are *not* good for breeding, and will only create poor quality foals that can't show or breed well.
Brindle is very hard (and expensive) to breed for, you'll likely do 75 breedings for every brindle you get, if not more. At the very least, you need to be getting good show horses, otherwise, you're spending hundreds of thousands of hb's for absolutely nothing.
Low quality horses that are pretty are still low quality horses, and your odds of randomly being able to breed up that one in 100 babies that gets the brindle are very slim. :) -
I do understand that, I'm just not a fan of geldings and spayed mares. I would prefer them be tested so I can breed them, but I love the brindle color and will take any of them, I just don't want geldings or spayed mares in my barns. I know people keep them to use for showing, but by limiting myself to intact only, I'm keeping my numbers down. I am a bit of a "collector" so I have to have my limits ;)
-
Even if my intact brindle is bred just to yum the foal, if I breed via pasture, I would make a small profit, so they would be earning their keep so to speak. But I have no problem with leaving poor quality brindles to just look pretty in the barn. Just not a fan of having four "genders" in the herd lol.
-
The small profit you make from pastures isn't anywhere near what you would make from show horses and it would take multiple seasons to make back what you bought them for let alone an actual profit. I make 870k+ a week from my show horses (which also means my stable is almost self sufficient, no need to spend real life cash on barns etc), mind you I have a fair squad but I have been playing for a fairly long time although for a good part of that I didn't keep many showies either. The showing system is a million times better than it use to be and makes it soooo much easier to make money, I could understand people not wanting to show in the old system but this one is just too easy. Just my two cents anyway, up to you!ID - 160680

I really appreciate the advice, and I do show my horses, and I do also breed for quality animals, and I am working on owning a self sufficient stable. I have a few separate projects, where my goal is Gold and Star papered animals, and I show everything I own, but the little brindle project is just on the side, as sort of a collection kind of thing. Some people collect stamps, and I guess I'm a brindle collector, lol.
I own a lot of horses in real life, I breed AQHA and APHA horses and I show actively in reining, cutting, western pleasure, and halter, and I teach riding lessons in hunter/jumper, dressage, and barrel racing, and I don't keep geldings or spayed mares there. I'm kind of playing the game almost like I run my ranch at home, so I didn't want to keep "cut" horses. I'm not saying they are bad, in the game or real life, just that I'd rather have them intact. -
Okay, so I decided to edit this post a little, let me know guys, does this sound better?
-
All good, I don't give advice very often cause there's people here that are better with words than me lol just thought it couldn't hurt. I use to collect BBTS for some reason, I guess the brindle, but most of them have aged out. I'd gift you this mare if you want but she's 15 so at minimum she's got 2 more breeding seasons left, http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2502586
If you want her I'll put her on buddy for you :)ID - 160680

There is a HAJ Facebook group as well. Some people do not check the forum regularly, so you might consider asking about Brindles there too. It's very active.
