What is everyone's favorite movies with horses? Not necessarily about horses, but with horses. Mine's a toss-up between Run, Appaloosa, Run The Rogue Stallion, and Across the Great Divide. Then it's The Black Stallion with Mickey Rooney, National Velvet, and The White Stallion again with Mickey Rooney. :D There's loads more, but these are a few of my favorites.

My childhood heart will always say Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron. I also love the movie War Horse.
I remember owning The Rogue Stallion on VHS I just can not remember the story it has been so long.
My husband and I love older movies the story lines have so much more to offer so thank you I will have to look some of these up.

The Black Stallion. Plus... The books were great as well. I still have all of my Water Farley collection somewhere in storage. I have a tattoo on my shoulder inspired by the silhouette that was on the old VHS case, as a matter of fact.

My favorite out of the series was The Island Stallion. The thrill of searching through the tunnels and then finding the horses has always sparked my imagination.

Second Chances. It’s about a girl and a horse named Ginger and barrel racing. I loved that movie growing up!

@bluchrystals Yes, I loved that one! It's tied for favorite with The Young Black Stallion, I liked getting a glimpse of the life before being shipwrecked.

How about The Man From Snowy River? That movie had 14yo me dreaming about going to Australia and marrying a cowboy someday. Haha!

@blucrystals - I read somewhere that they filmed that mountain ride scene in one take and the main actor didn't use a stunt rider!

I also really liked one called Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken. It is a true story about a girl who rode "diving horses" in a traveling show during the Great Depression. Has anyone else seen that one?

I had an aunt who enabled my obsession :D

There was also this Nat Geo doc (just called "Horses") that was pretty cool.

I love too many to pick just one...Hildago, Black Beauty, Black Stallion, Misty, Justin Morgan Had A Horse, The Man From Snowy River, A Horse For Summer, SeaBiscuit, War Horse, Coyote Summer, and my two favorite "non-horse" movies with lots of horses; The Three Musketeers, and The Lord of the Rings. (I still dream about owning a horse like Brego!)

My most watched as a kid was The Black Stallion Returns and Misty. I also had and loved Red Fury and the Rouge Stallion.

I love Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron.

Ooo that's tough. When i was little I watched Black Beauty, Red Fury, and National Velvet but i hardly remember anything about them lol

Some favorites are Saddle Club (even though it's technically a series), Moondance Alexander, Virginia's Run, Secretariat, The Long Shot, and A Leap of Faith. Oh and of course Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron! Does My Little Pony count? Because I am 22 years old, no kids, and i have watched all 8 seasons on netflix :))

***EDIT: So fun fact; A Leap of Faith is the same movie as Breaking Free! The first time i ever found/saw it, it was under the title A Leap of Faith. But then one day many many years ago. i was searching the movies at the library and came across the title Breaking Free and saw it had horses so I rented it and lo and behold, it was the exact same movie!

Did anyone else (besides FlyingTurkeyFarm because I know she did ;) ) watch The Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit?? I remember watching that one a lot! I can hardly remember anything about the plot except that it involved showjumping.

I have watched just about every thing listed so far(except The Horse In The Gray Flannel Suit sorry @FalhollowStables) and yes even My Little Pony (I'll admit it!), also happen to love the show Horse Land too haha(no I am not still a child)! Has any one seen Racing Stripes? Its about a racing zebra technically but he has help from his horsey friends!

@HorseAngel I have Racing Stripes too! And if we inculde horsey series as well... I love Heartland, and Free Rein on Netflix. I used to watch the Saddle Club when I was little and loved it. My girls love Horseland, Spirit Riding Free, and Pony Sitters.

My favorite movie of all time is Dallas Buyers Club :))
It does have some horses in it, so I suppose it counts? Despite how explicit the film is, it's always been a real tear jerker for me aha

Man from Snowy River! Definitely my number one. Grew up with National Velvet, Spirit, The Young Black Stallion, The Black Stallion, King of the Wind, Hidalgo, Ladyhawke (it counts), Secretariat

TV shows, Heartland and Free Rein are my guilty pleasures. Loved the OG Saddle Club when I was a kid and just rewatched it as an adult because why not? Also Chris Hemsworth was in the last season when he was still a baby-babe

Way too many of them. But one I'm counting is the remake of Stagecoach with Waylon, Willie and the rest. I picked this movie because it was filmed in AZ, and horses from Ft Huachuca ceremonial cavalry troop were uses. When I was a vet tech at Ft Huachuca, I worked with several of the horses that were in the movie.

Phar Lap, Secretariat, Hildago, Seabiscuit, definitely Ladyhawke (I so agree it does count), Spirit, War Horse, Black Beauty, The Black Stallion.

I grew up breezing horses for my neighbor so I am pretty partial to the racing movies. Gets the adrenaline flowing. ;)

My favorite horse movies are National Velvet, International Velvet (even though it's so cheesy!), and Sylvester. My favorite movie horse is the drop-dead gorgeous dapple grey that Prince Henry rides in Ever After.

I love Caseys Shadow. It was filmed in part about 70 miles from my home town. And a couple of people I know were in it. The vet who owned a share of Derby winner Mind That Bird was one of the people in the movie. His son is still a vet in the area. Casey's Shadow was also based on real life events. Basically part of that.movie is true.

The horse in the grey flannel suit is my all time favorite!!

I grew up loving Spirit, hidalgo, brighty of the Grand Canyon, dreamer, racing stripes, black beauty, and the black stallion.
