KP question
-
If I bred a mare with one copy of KP to a stud with two copies of KP, but the offspring comes out with only one KIT gene, should I be able to GMT on
another KIT gene to see if it did inherit two copies of KP? -
Only if both parents had a KIT gene to start with :) But yes, if the second KIT gene is GMTable, you can add it to see if you have a homozygous KP foal or a carrier.

Yes, yuu could GMT the 2nd KIT gene on to see if they got it.

Awesome! Thanks :) I didn't want to spend any money on GMTs until I knew it would work. So a stud with 2 copies of KP and a mare with 1 copy of KP should give what, a 75% chance of the foal having it, if the foal has two KIT genes?
