ISO Tobiano mares/ Tobiano mare for sale
-
So my morning was ruined when I PT tested these next 3 girls. As a personal rule, I only breed foundation mares with a PT higher than 9... And as you can see none of them made the cut.

Not too bad to start, just didn't quite make it.

Her PT makes me requestion her name Pritty...

Best Day? Try Worst...
So needless to say, I am looking for three mares to replace these. Also, if you are interested in any of these I am willing to sell at less than create price. They will probably go into Sunday's public auction if not sold.Post edited by HollidayFarms at 2015-12-17 04:11:58 -

May I ask you why you don't breed foundations with a PT lower than 9? PT score and breeding ability are not related, so they might have a low PT but that does not means they are bad breeders! So if I were you I'd keep them, breed them a couple of times and then decide if you want to keep them or not ;)
I could sell you this mare for create price if you really want a tobiano above 9PT: http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3469024
Unfortunately I don't have any more that I can sell...HJ1 160524

You are absolutely right, but PT is related to showing. I try to keep horses who have the potential to show well. Its just a something I started when I first started learning the game.
If you are wanting to sell her, I am more than happy to buy her. But only if you are really needing to get rid of her.Post edited by HollidayFarms at 2015-12-17 07:48:51 -
A little bird told me you should wait until after Christmas. ;)

Just as an FYI - this stallion makes me hbs each week even though his PT is only 4.5 http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2882471
as does this guy with a 6.7 http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2884789Post edited by Visions at 2015-12-17 08:35:45 -
Haha ok :D
Maybe I'm a little confused on how the PT stuff works. I thought that it determined how far the horse will go in training, which determines how far they will go in showing. Higher levels of showing means more potential points, given that they place well. And of course points mean more bonus money each week.
I guess it's still possible for lower level PT horses to gain points, they just level off faster or...? -
You are correct! Yes, a lower PT horse will earn points, just not as many, as they do level off quicker. The higher PT horses do earn more points, as does this 9 year old mare with a PT of 9.7 http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2941288
But, if a mare is what you need, I would not toss her just because of a lower PT. I have a large barn, so I do not even PT test my foundation mares anymore, I just show everyone.

0.6 just seems awefully low. I have the space until I breed in January, and then I'm going to be overloaded with horses again. Since I'm not breeding to make money off the foals and just to play around with genetics, I feel it's more important for me to have horses that will bring in more money in showing right now. I'll probably drop the practice when I finally decide what I want to breed, but for now I'm going to stick to horses with PT over 9. But if my SS is reading any of this conversation, I will be overly greatful for anything I am given for Christmas. So don't worry if what I am getting matches this. Anything given is perfect to me. :)

0.6 is very low and prob would not be worth keeping. You would be lucky if they bring in a half point at a time.Post edited by Visions at 2015-12-17 09:24:12Thanked by 1Abbey98

It is not so much about PT as it is where the horse leveled off. A 10.9 makes me more money than a 11.2.
I looked at your barn though and for the size I do not think that culling for PT is a bad thing unless the horse is an expro. In that case the breeding boost would out weigh any loss in placings :D
Like visions I do not even PT my foundys or even consistency test them. But, I have been playing for 4 or 5 years and have a few more barns collected :)

It just depends where the horse levels off. But one 10.9 can level off in a slightly worse spot than another, it's just a matter of having patience and finding out where they will end. Every horse start with a different 'base score' as well, so there is no saying in my opinion that every 10.9 will make you a lot of money, since they all start with a different base score and not end up the same. For example these three horses, they are all 11.9 PTs, but one is a lower level than the other two and they differ in scores as well. http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2477987 8L, 278, 13 yrs
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2605810 8R, 283. 12 yrs
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2731450 8R, 284/285, 11 yrs
So for me PT determines roughly in how high of a level they will show, but don't necessarily determines how they will place in that show. And ofcourse, the higher showing lever the more points can be earned and thus more hbs. So in that case a higher PT will end up in higher showing levels, but it still can make less points (and thus less money) than a horse with a lower PT that ends up in for example the 6W level and makes points there. World level shows give out more points than local level shows, for example the first place in 8L only gives out 5.5 points, whilst the 13th place from the 16 entries in the 6W levels gets 6 points (and the first place in 6W will get 30 points!).
But I can totally understand with a smaller barn that you want to keep horses that can make more money than others, I'm so used to my many barns that I totally forgot that could be a good reason too.
Anyway, I've put the mare I mentioned up for create price + PT testing! And I hope she places well for you and will be a big money maker! :)HJ1 160524
