What I want you to do is tell me, if you were a world famous horse breeder, what would you breed for? Fantasy genes can be included as well! This will not count against you as I will be using a random number picker to choose a winner :) please include your stable name and ID! -

In real life, my dream would be to breed for grullo overos. I wouldn't even want to do any fancy showing with them, if anything just breed for good minded horses that would be awesome for trail riding :)

I would love to breed my very own gaited breed with the real kitM genes and satin too! They would be awesome and maybe go for a good ranching horse!

I'd breed big Quarter horses. I had this lesson horse who was 17.1 and he was the biggest most athletic thing I'd ever seen. In terms of color, Cherry Bays and Browns because they're just too pretty :))
ID 257169 -
DP brown, liver, or bay Arabians. Not the new dish faced swan necked ones, but the old stylish ones. They looked like statues without the ostentatious displays of the newer ones.

Hmmm... If I was world famous for horse breeding,
I would have to say it would be for Sabino Black Arabs or Black Warmblood style horses... I've always loved Arabs, ever since the Black Station movies, I've dreamt of owning a Black or Gray Arabian! And I absolutely love how big and agile the Warmblood is... My ex race horse Thoroughbred is built like a Warmblood and it made me fall in love with big horses!

I think I would breed fjords. I love their size, sure footed ness and the fact they’re only dun!Licensed in chinchilla, mushroom & splash M
-
I’d love to breed Foundation Quarter Horses, probably with roan herd stallions. I’d focus on them being sound, good-minded, and trainable. Color would be secondary, but I am partial to roans...

I would breed Andalusians, especially the more rare colors like cream pearl! I show Andalusians in real life (I've even been to nationals with my mare!) and I definitely want to breed them in the future. It is so rare you find an Andalusian without a good brain.

If I bred horses, or anything else, I wouldn't consider breed or color as much or any of a factor. I'd breed for, in order of importance, health, temperament, and performance ability. The goal would be smart, sound, hardworking horses with the athleticism to do whatever you put in front of them and the temperament to be highly trainable and work with you as a partner. They'd probably be on the taller and lighter side, like Akhal-teke's through to Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods. And then, all else being equal, watercolor onyxes would be awesome, lol!

Flashy liver chestnut Morgans for the pleasure and sport ring. Splash, W20 so lots of chrome.

I think I would try to breed for the old school Knabstrupper horses! I love me some splashy spots lol

I used too breed my dream horse.
When I was a 12, my grandfather would board my Uncles horses that were due up for sale. There was one little stud colt that I ended up falling in love with. He was due up for sale, because he was ... as my Uncle put it ... hard headed... didn't like to be caught, didn't like to be touched ... kinda got forgotten about, so he hadn't been handled a lot and wasn't halter broke. It was my Christmas with my grandparents so I did what I normally do ... go out and play with the horses. Snip was a Leopard Appaloosa/Colorado Rangerbred, I was raised with Appaloosas (in case one couldn't tell from my preference in the game) so I immediately went to him ... had him haltered, and was brushing him down and cleaning out his feet. My grandfather bought him that night from my uncle ... and he was presented as my Christmas present.
Fast forward a few years (okay 20+) and I was able to start my own breeding program ... The Rangerbred has ties to the Arabian and so that is what I refined ... with the genetics, I was even able to get foundation lines to hold their manes and tails. But with the downturn of the economy and the loss of my job ... I had to geld my boys and sell off the younger stock. I still have my original mares and stud ... and one lone filly from our program that my sister is going to be using to bring her genetics into her lines ...

I’d probably breed Welsh ponies/ Quarter horse or maybe Morgans. A horse parents would happily buy for their kids as a colt to maturity 4-H project. They would be a little smaller than an average Quarter horse, they would be smart and willing to please, they also wouldn’t be as prone to buck as some Quarter horses. Something that could keep up all day with horses twice their size without a problem. And when they are done learning together another young person could benefit from the horse, or an adult that wants a smaller horse. Color wouldn’t be a huge factor but I’d lean towards black. Pretty much breeding for the same qualities my mare has.

Fun question! The rational, practical, side of me says that I would breed steady family-friendly horses for easy, comfortable riding. My best horse-friend while I was growing up was a gentle young Tennessee Walker gelding (my neighbor's horse), so maybe I'd focus on Tennessee Walkers. I'd definitely focus on temperament and not color.
The dreamer side of me would love to breed pearl/watercolor/satin horses in Warmblood or Freesian type bodies. I think they would look absolutely magical!

I would breed for liver chestnuts with flaxen - gaited trail horses with good bone but still refined.
